Default Can PCOS give preggo test a false positive?

I took two tests this morning, one when I first woke up and one three hours later. The first one had such a faint positive line I just blew it off as nothing. My curiosity has been getting the best of me and I did another, (another brand too) this one the positive line is a little bit darker but still kinda faint. I caalled the 800 number and it said if I had PCOS it was probably false.

Ok, has anyone else experienced this?
Appreciate any input, I am going crazy...I want to get excited, but am too afraid.
ALSO.....(almost forgot to mention) I have been feeling like I want to start my period...crampy, but nausea too. Very conflicting!

They told you it was probably false?? I have NEVER heard that. A urine pregnancy test becomes positive (even faintly) if it at all detects the hcg (or whatever it's called) hormone. As far as I know, having PCOS does not make us naturally have that hormone in our bodies. I seriously have no clue why they would have told you that. You should check out peeonastick.com -- they have LOTS of great information about pregnancy tests, and it explains why false positives are rare.
I'd say, it's a REAL positive, and CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!

PCOS can cause a false positive on an OPK, but not an HPT, for the reasons linusmom explained. There's only three ways to get a +++ on an HPT 1) Actually being pregnant (the most common reason) 2) Having recently taken a trigger shot of hCG to make you O (which you would know about if you did it) and 3) A really rare type of tumor that can produce it.

So, unless you took a trigger and forgot to tell us, I'd say you're pregnant. Call your doc and get a beta!!

Yeah, they were wrong...a pregnancy test does not detect LH, but HSG and either comes positive with baby, recent trigger shot, or certain types of tumors & unusual cysts. Get your doc to do a blood beta!

I went to doc yesterday, the pee pee test came back negative, but I could hardly pee at all, I had nothing to drink all day.
Yes, they drew blood and will tell me the results today hopefully. I will post here and tell you all if it's negative.

If I am not pregnant, I don't know what is wrong with me, I am hot and tired and nauseated just like with previous pregnancy.

Also, thanks for the referral to peeonastick.com that is a super neat website!
A wealth of information.

Unhappy

Oh ladies

I am worried now! I had a positive test done on 4th May but was told I had miscarried. Several scans later, all clear internally but still my hcg readings are increasing and any HPT I have done has come up positive. The doctor is trying to find out what is going on. I am worried sick, any advice?

{{Hugs}} I hope that what the told you earlier this month is a miraculous misdiagnosis. Maybe the baby was burrowed into your lining and they could not see it? Do you by any chance have a tilted uterus? I read that could make the baby seem missing or make them misdiagnose the size and health of the yolk sac.

Here is a website that I really think you might like and find helpful right now. http://www.misdiagnosedmiscarriage.com/mycommunity/

My prayers are with you!!! Let us know what happens, ok?
