Question Can pcos hit you at 40?

Is pcos something you have since you are young or can it hit you at a later age?I am 43 and I have the symptoms, but I have had more or less regular check ups with a gynelogists up to about 3 years ago. Should it have been there then?

my pcos started at 13 years old

i would guess that if you have a diagnosis of pcos at 43 you must have had the tendancy to have it all along.

if you gain weight the weight gain can make your symptoms worse.

if you think back though, even if you had regular cycles and no infertility

did you have acne or unwanted facial or arm hair?

it could be also that a dr. made a mistake in your case--it would not be the first time a dr. made a mistake---most of us here have our "pcos horror stories" about our drs.

Default Welcome!

PCOS is a syndrome, that is, a collection of symptoms. It can hit you at any point. The symptoms are caused by hormone imbalances, so any time your hormones get out of whack PCOS can strike.

CysterChrista--

you are eating snickers for breakfast??

i'm afraid a snickers in the morning would send my insulin levels soaring all day.

PCOS symptoms are very close/same as pre-menapausal symptoms.
Mine hit hard at age 30.

So yes it can be PCOS or early menapause.(basically the same thing)
