So I'm just curious, can the Pill Cause a low sex drive? Anyone else experience this?
In the past year I have felt as though I've had almost no sex drive whatsoever... often times almost dreading that 72 hour period where my husband would come when he was getting that urge again. There was a time when it was almost nearly impossible for him to turn me on, I had to focus really hard on sex in order to be able to maybe 50% of the time successfully be able to do so for him. It became a dreaded and painful duty for me.
Just Lately I have noticed this turning around. I don't know if it is due to me coming off of the pill? Or due to me finally getting my health in order? I have been on the nutrilite system for about 2 months now, and I am wondering if this is helping? Its so strange too, because I find myself thinking about sex and desiring it, which I have not done since the beginning of my relationship with my husband...back when we were crazy in love. Today I actually ASKED my husband if he wanted to have sex! I never do that for fear of not being able to deliver... and then I wanted it again (in which I actually got turned down) and because I didn't get it I am still feeling like I'd like it.... though DH is sleeping. lol.
Does anyone know what this change could be in me? Has anyone else experienced this? Sorry if TMI.

Can I please tell you that I've been off BCP for 3 mos now and have SUCH an alive sex drive!!!
For years I've been pushing my husband away because he wanted it so much more than i.
Now, its almost the opposite, not quite, but almost.
He definitely has to keep up with me now.
I attribute the change in my sex drive to stopping BCPs AND getting regular exercise and eating right.
Lilababe- Thanks for sharing. At least I know that I'm not the only one! lol.

YES! I was on bcp for 10 years and I swear I never had sex drive. After I stopped I began to understood what the fuss was all about!
I once read about a joke in the medical community which states that bcp prevent pregnancy because the woman never wants to have sex. Its not a joke for some of us!

LOL!!! Too funny! Yeah I feel like that's the case.
Yeah I do feel like I'm just starting to figure out again what was so good about sex. For a while there I was like... uuummm...

It's not just you. I think the hormones can throw our sec drive out of whack, leaving us 'not in the mood dear, sorry'
Yeah I know that 'mood' all too well.

the pill definitely can have an impact on my sex drive too, but i just wanted to add that different pills affect it differently. some had the effect of dampening my sex drive, while others magnified it, and still others seemed to intensify the variation over the course of my cycle. so for people who would prefer to stay on the pill but are suffering adverse effects on their sex drives, it might be worth trying to switch pills before discontinuing the pill altogether.

Yeah I see what you are saying, and I do agree with this. However in my case the pill that I was on was not only to control birth but was the method of treatment that my doctor offered to me for PCOS. I was told that was the strongest and most effective pill (yazmin) and was told that I didn't really have any other alternatives. However if you are on another method of treatment for PCOS then I don't see any problems in switching around pills, however I have heard that the pill can worsen the affects of PCOS.
When I read that, that was my last straw and I came off of it immediately. Why do I want to be on anything that isn't really helping a lot,... just somewhat masking my symptoms and then making me worse over all? So I would be careful in what choices are made,... also in general it is just really good to not be on the pill for an extended period of time.
HEre's a link of one example that I have read, if you research it you can find more on the pill negatively affecting PCOS.

Yes...Yasmin is probably one of the worst at lowering sex drive for the same reason drs "say" it is helpful in PCOS. It really lowers your testosterone level. I agree that any BCP is horrible for PCOS...it royaly screwed up my body and I feel alive for the first time in years since switching to Met.
That's hilarious about the BCP joke. I actually made the exact same joke in class one day. When I stopped BCPs and went to Metformin I got my drive back. And yes, my boyfriend has issues with trying to keep up with me. But I guarentee he loves it!!!!!
Haha... do men ever complain when the woman wants it? LOL!

As soon as a I went on the pill, I noticed a significant affect to my libido.
The week when I'm off the pill, I have a major kick in sex drive. Unfortunately, though, I'm also bleeding during that time, and neither of us enjoy sex under those circumstances.
Granted, I'm enjoying less facial hair and hair loss as a result, so I've stuck with it out of vanity I guess.

I wouldn't consider your reasons for sticking with the pill vanity hun.. how about wanting to feel like a normal woman? That was the biggest thing keeping me on the pill... now I don't have that extra help which is a pain, but I am hoping that these supplements that I am on will help, and I am looking into laser hair removal.
