Default Can this be right?

Well in addition to cutting out diet sodas I also got a little metal basket steamer and some frozen veggies to cook for dinner. Well I bought frozen crinkle cut yellow squash and apparently there is NO nutritional value whatsoever. Can this be right? No vitamins A or C, and only 3 grams of dietary fiber. Now I thought squash was supposed to be uber-healthy? When I researched online (because I'm a dork) it said squash has nearly 500% RDA for Vitamin A. Perhaps this is for fresh only? Any input is appreciated. I swear I don't know how you all put up with my strange posts.

Annie

I know that fresh is better, but I had no idea HOW much better - I'll be interested to see the other responses that you get.

It could be that since it is not a calorie-dense food, the amount of nutrients necessary to count on the package per serving is too small to register. At any rate, 3 grams of fiber is great! Fiber is a key aspect of nutrition.

Anyway check this out:
Nutrition Data for Frozen Yellow Squash (aka Crookneck Squash)

Quote:
This food is low in Saturated Fat and Sodium, and very low in Cholesterol. It is also a good source of Vitamin A, Riboflavin, Vitamin B6, Folate, Iron, Phosphorus and Copper, and a very good source of Dietary Fiber, Vitamin C, Vitamin K, Magnesium, Potassium and Manganese.
ETA: As a comparison of the Fresh/Frozen/Raw/Cooked deal you can check out the nutrition data for fresh boiled yellow squash, and fresh raw yellow squash.

Yellow squash? Like zucchini? That's a different creature from things like acorn and pepper squash, which are very high in vitamin A (the colour of their flesh gives them away).
