I'm having probs with pages loading too slow on dial up, due to some types of tickers. I'm not upset or anything, just trying to customise the pages to suit my resources. I can only get dial up connection where I live.

Is there a board function that would allow me to switch off tickers in the signatures?
I can't seem to find one. I have the photos disabled function switched on, which has helped many of the pages load much quicker.

For example, when I read a post now, most of the signatures appear with a link to the photo in it like [url=www.photobucket.com[/URL] etc instead of the actual photo appearing and the page loads quickly. Photo's in a blinkie or specialised design still appear & take ages to load because the photo is not separate. I can still see avatar and smilie pics and that size doesn't seem to cause any problems at all.

The disable photo's function only covers some types of tickers (like tickercentral and tickerfactory which appear as a link) but not others like lilypie and baby gaga etc. A page where theres two or more tickers in each sig takes forever to load.

I'd love to have the photos enabled but some of the large ones take a very long time for my pages to open so this is the only option for me to visit the board. I mean no offence at all to anyone with a ticker.
Any suggestions or help would be really appreciated.

Go to your UserCP then click on EDIT OPTIONS- at the bottom there is a section called Thread Display Options and there are boxes to uncheck that allows signatures to be shown. Unfortunatley that will eliminate ALL siggys and not just ticker ones OR you can uncheck the show Images box and the tickers or any other slow-loading pics will be gone. Hope that helped!

Thanks so much Mandy, I'm going to take a look at that now. I knew about turning all the siggys off, but I am trying to find a way to keep the text and remove only the image.

Edit:
I took a look at my user cp, and I've realised that the "disable photo's" option I mentioned above is in fact called Show images! I already had that one switched off!
This is what it lists and I have the images one off already:

Visible Post ElementsYou have the option to show or hide various elements of messages, which may be of use to users on slow internet connections, or who want to remove extraneous clutter from posts.
Show Signatures
Show Avatars
Show Images (including attached images and images in [IMG] code)
