Can someone help with GTT results? I went to my GP yesterday to go over my latest GTT results, and while I was there I found out I am expecting #2. Due to the fact that my periods are still very irregular, even after being on Glucophage since May, we are not sure yet how far along I am. Could be anywhere from 1-2 months. My GP has referred me to an OB and told me that more than likely since he will have me stop taking the Glucophage I will be put on insulin. The thing is, my insulin levels are already sky high. Results for my last GTT were:
Fasting
Glucose: 80
Insulin: 19.5
1 hour
Glucose: 173
Insulin: 185.2
2 hour
Glucose: 139
Insulin: 201.2
I can't understand how my numbers can be so high after being on 1500mg for so long. In fact they are up from the last test. I asked her if she thought I would definitely get gestational diabetes and she told me that I already AM diabetic. This is the first time she's said that, and I've asked her before and she told me no, just insulin resistant. So anyway.....my question. If my insulin levels are so high, why would I be put on insulin during my pregnancy? Wouldn't that just make matters worse? And by the numbers above, would you consider me diabetic? I just don't know what the numbers are supposed to be. The glucose levels are not alot higher than the reference numbers but the insulin levels are outrageous...the reference numbers are 1.4 - 14. I'm seeing a Diabetes specialist on the 9th and will hopefully have some questions answered, but really wanted to get some input from some of you.
