Unhappy can someone help me?!

Hello everyone..

This is exactly the forum I need! lol Well... I have been sick for a while and their trying to put the puzzle together still... maybe one of you has had some of these same symptoms?! in the past 4 months i've had 6 UTI's (and i'm not sexually active!) I had persistant strep for 3 months. I gained 105lbs in a year! blurry vision noticed is worse. and i'm hungry allllll the time even after i eat! Very thirsty also!!
Since the dr started me on metformin I tracked my sugar levels (even tho he said i didn't need to! He never tested me for IR or anything!!!) sat my blood sugar was 91 and i ate and 3 hours later it was 387! and then the next day my sugars were all within normalimits! sometimes in the morning their in the 90's and sometimes their in the 140's.
Anyone can help i''d appreciate it!!!!!!!

Well let me first say that I am not a doctor BUT weight gain goes along with IR, blurry vision, thirst, and UTI's are all signs of Diabetes. It sounds like, from your numbers, at you have Type II Diabetes. I have pre-diabetes and am IR. Your numbers need to be between 70-140 to avoid complications and an A1C under 6.5. (Those numbers are recommended by the American Academcy of Endo's but you could go with the higher numbers of 70-180 and an A1C under 7 if you wanted to follow the ADA). What dosage of Metformin are you on? Are you being treated by an Endo? What about adding Actos, Sulf, Avandia, Byetta? You really need to watch those numbers, anything above 140/160 causes nerve damage....leading to later complications . Also, are you following a low-carb diet? Substituting Splenda, Truvia, Equal in place of regualr sugar? I eat a diet that has no added sugar, no white carbs, and intake around 120 grams of carbs a day while exercising 4-5 times a week for 45 minutes. Do you exercise?

Thank you soo much for the reply!!!
No..I am not being treated by an endo. I was being seen by a gynocologist who found the pcos and started me on metformin, (without doing any diabetes testing or IR or anything!) Currently I am on 1500mg metformin. SInce I have not offfically been diagnosed i've just been eating my normal diet (which consists of fruits veggies, some meat and alot of sugar! lol ) I exercise 2-4 times a week!!!! (and still haven't lost ANY weight!) I saw a new dr today. He is tracking my sugar levels for the next 3 weeks and he did an A1C test. (but idk the results yet) He did say I had hyperglcemia. Is that the same as saying I have diabetes?!! i'm not sure. and then after the 3 weeks he said we'd go from there?!?!

Yes, Hyperglycemia means elevated blood sugar... aka diabetes. I have both hypoglycemia (reactive-- so my blood sugar goes low a few hours after eating a higher carb meal) and hyperglycemia. It sounds like you are on the right track with being with a new doctor. You really need to work on getting onto a good diet plan--- less sugar and carbs-- that will lower your numbers and you should feel better. Good luck!

Hi... You were soo helpful to me! I had a questoin.. My dr (the nurse actually) called with test results and said that my A1C was normal?!?! Does that mean that I don't have diabetes?? I'm confused. Cos how can my fasting blood sugar be 135 or higher everyday and it be normal??? i'm reallllly confused
