You need to ask the doctor who gave you the progesterone and estrogen why he didn't say you needed to come off the pill.

BCP and HRT are basically the same thing.
Just dif formulas of it.

I would be worried about taking all of that.
Are you sure he didn't say to stop your BCP?

Yasmin was horrible for me.
It didn't work ike they said it should. But I ended up haveing endo, ando and have felt better being off all hormones(Post hysterectomy-dif subject from you)

Sounds like you need to just switch from BCP to HRT.

patty.... my dr said it was okay to take progesterone with the pill ( this is the only thing he has ever suggested for my health that i just dont understand/trust) everything else via thryoid etc is wonderful.

i feel i need to stop the pill as well since i have gained back 20 pounds( already really overweight) but there is no other bcp i can use except condoms and i get infections.

hrt... gosh the idea of that is so scary at 28 but it sounds like that is what my body needs more that just a bcp.

have you taken hrt?? thanks for getting back to me!!

BCP verses HRT

There is alot of info around about these.

The main thing that women(and doctors) forget is they are basically the same thing!!

It is just named differently. There are also different formulas to them both. Depending on what you are dealing with.

If a woman is hitting menapause and still has all her "stuff" she will need higher doses of estrogen and/or progestin to treat specific symptoms.

Women with a hystory of endo should not have any form with estrogen because that feeds the endo and can make it worse.

Women who do not have AF on their own really need progestin to get the AF flowing to avoid thickening of the uteris or worse..uterine cancer.

This is why knowing what your specifics are. That way you know what ingrediant you need and can avoid the others if possible.

For me, I don't use any of it because even after a full hysterectomy, I don't have the symptoms most women have.
Don't get me wrong, I have a few(irritation at times, sensitive emotions) but I have been dealing fine so far.(1 year come Tuesday with NO HRT) I was worse before my surgery. I was Dx with severe PMDD(bad PMS) So I feel good now.

There are lots of types out there. The patches were real nice when i was on them. Less chance of forgetting them.

But like any drug(includding Met/Gluc) It doesn't help everyone.
You have to do what works for you.

Another thing to think about is the level of ingrediants.
If one form doesn't work then try one with more or less estrogen or progestin in it.

It could be as simple as that.

patty..so you dont think either is better really???

in your opinion... what do you think about the news that bcps make insulin resistance worse???

if that is the case..then doesnt hrt make it worse too???

the one reason i would go off bcp and go for hrt..is the insulin thing.. do you have any thoughts on that??

also if bcp is like hrt... then can you not get pregnant on hrt either??? i am so dang confused now lol xoxo jenn

ps i am 28, no endo, do want kids but in 3 years or so...i just want to be healthy and not make my ir worse.. but want to not having hot flashes from hell etcetcetc. xoxo
