Question Can someone please help me?

Hello, it has been a while since I have posted on the PCOS Boards and I would like to join you all if you don't mind. My name is Tracy and I am 29 years old and was diagonsed with PCOS in 2002. All the docs kept saying I didn't look PCOS but my bloodwork showed differently and I would go months without a period and I was struggling to get pregnant. I finally conceived using metformin and now have a 6 month old boy named Micah!
My question is this: I really do not like taking BCP but if I don't then I will go months without having a period. Should I take the metformin instead? I wouldn't mind getting pregnant again so that is not the issue, I just want to have normal periods without the pill. Any suggestions? Thanks so much for any advice you have.

I'd try it too. I currently just start met again last week--- I also have a 6 month old DS!!!

When I started it before my PG, it really did seem to help. I would also go anywhere up to 70 days without AF without met, with met I was down in the 30-40 days cycles.

Interestingly, I stopped BF, started met and AF showed within a day or two!! How's that for effectiveness?? or maybe just coincidence???

That's what I thought too!! I started met and within the week I had AF. Now I am having three week cycles to the day, after never having af without the help of provera or bcp (kind of a drag, but hey I'm regulated... now ovulation, that's something else).

I agree, try it. Your dr will put you on a low dose to start, and you can go from there, especially if you are not trying to avoid pregnancy.

Good Luck, keep posting!
