a natural treatment for anxiety, moodswings and....anger?
Normally, a GP would prescribe an anti-depressant for this, I've already done that, but with these pills come side effects and dependancy. I want to be able to take something that is compatable with Spironolactone and my blood-pressure meds Candesartan.
I've heard of St Johns Wort, but I know that this also has side effects, and does not mix well with some prescribed meds.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

i'd like some advice on this as well!! i suffer from quite bad anxiety and was on medication for it a couple of years ago when i was at uni, but came off it after. ive been relatively ok, but still have some rather upsetting ups and downs.
if anyone has any ideas i would really appreciate it.
ive bought a couple of books about self-esteem and self-confidence but im not sure they have helped me all that much....
xx

It looks very promising, but I'll need to check if its legal and available in the Uk and then I'll check with my GP if I can use it - that should be fun
I'm off to Google Lavender now!

Have you heard of Chromium? It help with lowering glucose levels as well as mood swings. Magnesium helps with irritability and mood swings. Milk Thistle and Motherwort both help with irritability. In addition to St. John's Wort, other herbs which are thought to relieve depression include ginger, gingko biloba, liquorice root, oat straw, peppermint, lemon balm and Siberian Ginseng. Zinc can also help with mood swings. I got all of this information from a PCOS Diet book. In addition to help control anxiety and depression, these herbs also have a great benefit to helping control PCOS side effects.
Before I started taking my Vits and herbs I had a very hard time with anxiety and depression. It took about 2-3 months before I really started feeling capable of being able to control the anxiety and depression. Although I did feel better after about a week.
The best advice I could give is to do some research about the herbs and discuss with your GP or naturopathic doctor to which of these herbs would benefit you and your body best. Most of these herbs are sold online or health food store. Good Luck!!

Just because you mentioned anger, I would suggest a liver cleanse. It is well recognized in the alternative world that liver problems, weakness or over load, can cause anger, depression, and so forth. So maybe a liver cleanse, then something to support it. Many herbs, especially chinese herbs, that are made for depression are actually liver products, such as this one: http://www.mynsp.com/naherbs/product...?StockNum=1878

Have you tried Rescue Remedy or some of the Jan de Vries essences? I also second the chromium and magnesium supplements.

Rescue remedy is good, but it is really more for when you are under stressful situations, not exactly for permanent relief. It should be used in addition to other things you are doing to correct the underlying problem.
