Default Can they really not date a pregnancy if you

had a prometrium induced period? That's what a couple of drs have told me at the my new ob/gyn clinic.

And do you still count it as day 1 when you start? I find this all to be a little confusing!

The last prometrium induced period started may 1. I sarted taking my prometrium as I usually do on may 19. I had a miscarriage on may 20 for a couple of days (didn't know I was pregnant until afterwards). Since then I haven't had a period at all. The doctor wants me to try just metformin to see if that brings AF. So, here it is already july and he wants me to wait a few more weeks to see if AF comes before he will prescribe me provera.

There have been days that I thought I was about to start. FOr weeks my breasts were sore, my face is breaking out badly and for a day I had low back pain and also mini-cramps for a few hours. SO I was expecting my period to start...and then it doesn't.

I just wish it would hurry up and come so I can get back on a schedule! I'll take a fake AF! It worked well enough before!

I am confused?

I'm not sure I understand you, but here goes... CD1 is CD1 no matter if it comes from Ov'ing or from using Prometrium to bring it on. I almost always had to start my cycles with Prometrium or Provera because I had not Ov'ed the cycle before.

Waiting to see if Metformin works seems silly. Metformin can take 1-3 months to bring AF if it is going to... but there's no guarantee that it will.

I recommend charting, and if nothing happens by a few weeks, demand Prometrium. You shouldn't go more than 2 months without AF if you can help it. If the lining isn't shed it increases the risk of cancer in the lining.

Thanks for answering! I got pregnant in may. When my ob asked me the date of my last period, I told him it was may 1 and taht I was on prometrium. He then told me that he couldn't date my pregnancy by going by that but that he could tell by doing a pelvic exam and blood tests, but that prometrium just makes me bleed and that's all.

When I was first dx with PCOS (about 5 years ago) I was put on prometrium and metformin and told taht would help when I want to start ttc. This new dr wants to see if just taking metformin will bring about AF before he puts me on provera. He said if I don't have AF by late july, to call and they will prescribe provera to me.

I haven't ever charted so that could be why they weren't sure how far along I was.

I'm going to try and start charting, but I just thought it would be best to start the day of my first period, cause it seems my body has been a little bit out of whack since the m/c.

Its better to start charting even if you have not had a AF that away you can start being familiar with your cycle's and body.
AF no matter what is cycle day 1 (regardless how it comes about)

I would not wait I would call and ask that they give you provera, thier is not reason to wait unless you think you might be preg. again.
