Can you ovulate without having a menstrual cycle? Have anyone gotten pregnant this way?

i used to have a freind that didnt have af for 2 years and ended up pg !!so i guess anythings possible.good luck hun.

I know someone this happened to...it was a big huge suprise. She didn't get her period for 2 years before.

YES!! I have only had like four periods in ten years and I have been pregnant five times with three happy healthy kids

oh and I never get a period the month before I find out..they are completely unrelated for me. I have not had one in a year now so I really need to try to induce one. I have had ultra sounds and my lining never looks thicker then it should be? I think my body is just weird!

My friend got PG without having AF and she was also on Metformin. She was almost done with her first trimester when she found out.

You can definitely ovulate without having AF first and have AF without ever ovulating at all. HOWEVER, you cannot ovulate and then not have AF, unless you are pregnant. | |

You can all of a sudden start to ovulate after not having a period for a long time, but if you haven't had a period in say a year, it means you have not ovulated at all. The only way you will get pg, is if all of a sudden you start ovulating. If you ovulate, you will get AF no matter what.

I got pregnant without having AF for over six months (and on BCP before that) - but lost the baby after seven weeks. RE said that regular cycles (with AF) help produce the hormones (progesterone) needed to sustain a pregnancy. I lost my baby because I didn't have enough hormones. IF you suspect that you may be pg without having AF, I would contact your doc right away and ask to be put on Progesterone supplements like Prometrium or Provera. GL to you.
