Of course I meant thread not threat.... I don't know how to change the title of teh thread...sorry!
Hi everyone,
I have been silently reading the TTC thread on the thin cyster site, and it has been really good. I just had nothing to say just yet. Anne just brought up the Fertility Friend question, and I figured I'd pick that topic up for a new thread.
Anne, Fertility Friend @ www.fertilityfriend.com is a website that offers free charting for the basal body temperature. The Coverline Lissa mentioned is a visual aid to interpret your chart. And I have been wondering too, how to get one of those. But then again I suck at the whole charting thing. My frist two months have been partial (i started mid cycle the first time around, and took two weeks off during teh second cycle for travel) My temps are all over, and I am not even sure if I can let anyone take a look at them yet, because I am not a VIP member yet. (we will start trying in a month or so, and I just didn't want to shell out the money until we do, I am kind of cheap that way)
Here is a question for my fellow cysters: Have you found a BBT thermometer in a store? I looked online, and found some good ones, but when ever I go to any of the stores where I would expect it, they all just seem like regular fever thermometers (and I have one of those and am using it). I have been to Target, K=mart Walmart and walgreens/cvs. Am I looking in the wrong places?
Anyways, I hope you don't mind if I expand teh thin cyster TTC thread to this thread?!
Thanks!
Zebra

The BBT thermometer does look like a regular fever thermometer but the only difference is it takes it to another decimal point. For example, a fever one will give you 96.8 but a BBT one will read 96.86 That is how mine reads differently from my 'normal' thermometer.
I live in Canada but I got mine at the drug store in the family planning section. It actually said BBT thermometer on it and came with blank charts for recording. Try asking the pharmacist if you're unsure. They may keep them behind the counter.
A basal body temperature thermometer is required to be accurate to .2 degrees. Fever thermometers don't need to be accurate to that degree. Ear thermometers are even less accurate than fever thermometers. If you don't find a BBT thermometer, ask your pharmacist if they keep them in the back or if one can be ordered for you. If you still can't get a BBT thermometer, get a BD brand fever thermometer. BD makes both their fever and BBT to the same standards as BBT thermometers and they are the only company (that I know of) that makes fever thermometers that accurate.
hope that helps!

I've found BBTs both at CVS and Wal-mart. At CVS, I believe they were in the family planning section (with the pg tests and such). At Wal-mart, they were with the regular thermometers, but kinda in an obscure location...I had to ask someone to find them.
I prefer the one from Wal-mart. It reads to 0.1 degree, but does record the temp, so that I can take it early, go back to sleep, and chart it later. The one at CVS reads to 0.01 degree, but doesn't record the temp. It always reverts back to 97.70.
Good luck!
Lissa

You don't have to be VIP on FF to share your chart all you have to do is click on the "home page" button when you are logged in, activate the home page, and then copy and share the link
Syrica ... I believe they just mean the 'Thin Cyster' board that your currently posting on here at SoulCysters.
Zebra .. I didn't see a BBT at my local pharmacies.. though didn't look very hard, I would have asked at the counter.. except I had read somewhere else..
Perpetua's quote from ovusoft.. and since we already had a BD fever thermometer I've just started charting with it.
Well I've had some 'fun' starting out my chart.. woke up late the other day an was cuddled to hubby which threw my BBT way up higher then normally... FF was griping at me for not being consistent with my temping time.. so I finally just discarded yesterday's temp and it's happy again with today's at least.
I think I'm in the 2ww since I"m fairly positive I O'd last week.. not really expecting to be PG though, but ya never know. Course my Doc's appointment is on Monday.. and AF is not due till Tues or so ... so I won't know if I'm late or not then.
It's fascinating to start charting, especially at a time like this when my body is attempting to normalize (my meds are really having quite a positive effect hormonally.. hope it continues).
