Default can you help

Hello all,

Well I am new to the site and am confused and concerned. I haven't had reg. periods my whole life. I didn't start my period until late. I was one of the last in my age group. Since then I have not had regular cycles. I have always been concerned but was told since I wasn't trying to concieve not to worry about it. I got married about a year and a half ago and now my husband and I would like to start trying. I went to the OBGYN and was told to get off the pill and if I didn't have a cycle within 3 months to come back in. After 4 months I went back in and the doc. decided to put me on progesterone for 10 days to induce a cycle and to send me for an ultrasound. During the ultrasound the doc. kept calling it PCOS since both my left and right ovary were covered with cysts. I of course was devistated. After she went back to confer with her coworkers... she came back in and told me they would say for certain what it was until I got my final labs done. I am taking those on the 22nd and I guess will have all my results read sometime after Christmas. I don't feel like I have enough of the symptoms of PCOS to be diagnosed but if someone could tell me if my symptoms are those of PCOS patients I would be greatful. I know anything anyone tells me is strictly a guess, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Symptoms I have:
-irregular periods
-multiple cysts on both ovaries
-lower back pain (some but not all the time)
-sugar problems (I was diagnosed hypogluacemic at a young age)
-problems with painful bowl movements
-when I do menstrate it is painful and often makes me want to throw up all though I usually don't
-I have facial hair although I have had 9 sessions of lazer treatment but it still grows back just less than before
-some dark hair around the nipple area but not tons
-I have gained 12 pounds in the past year. Have been exercising at least 5 days a week for the past 6 months (20-30 min cardio and 30 min weight training) I have lost a total of 5 pounds. I feel like I should be loosing more
-When I don't eat about every 4 hours I get dizzy and often pass out, along with very angry and combative and have a lack of concentration and become sleepy.
-Type 2 diabetes run in my family through my mom's side... aunts, grandmother etch...

So, any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

The things that sucks about PCOS is that you can have a range of symptoms. Some are worse that others. I am borderline on everything, my levels are just barely above/or below normal. I couldn't get my body to ovulate with clomid (fertility drug) but now I am ovulating without any help. If I am not pregnant this month, then on to injectable hormones. But some women with PCOS get pregnant first try with clomid.

My suggestion to you, is to find a doctor you like, if possible. I had a bad doctor for 9 months, that totally screwed me up. It was only after finding a good doctor did I make some progress. Feel free to join us on the TTC board. There is tons of support there! And PM if you would like to talk sometime. WE have been TTC for a year now!

Blessings,
Sam

Many women don't see a lot of symptoms till their late 20s, some get a lot when they are 18. It just depends.

As far as the reaction when you don't eat for 4 hours, sounds like an insulin issue to me, but hopefull they will check you for diabetes and IR anyway.

Default concerns

Hi! When the dr sends you for labs, I hope that he includes CBC and Fasting Glucose, Fasting Insulin and C-Peptide along with the Lipid Panel. I know that my gyno did and found that I have type II diabetes. If you have a family history of it, please make sure that you are tested. My endocrinologist said that it is common for PCOS patients to have Diabetes too.

If I can help, please e-mail me or AIM me.
