Default canadian adopting from mexico?

I'm Canadian - just wondering if it's possible to adopt from Mexico.
I don't want to adopt now, but would like to after I have a biological child, if I ever have one. (Just can't adopt now, as I think I'd see the child as a substitute, and I don't think that's right; not for me, anyway.)
Don't know, though, about all the politics involved. Dh and I are white, and an adopted child would most likely not be white. We are comfortable with this, but our extended families would not be. Argh. I hate that.
Have been thinking about Mexico, anyway, because my dear SIL is Mexican. I thought that she might be a bridge, in a sense. Meaning that the kid wouldn't be the only non-white person in my family. Plus we could really make a strong effort to keep up with language and culture, then, as I'm already learning Spanish.
Just rambling here, and if anyone has any insight, I'd appreciate it. Thank you.

I found this:

http://mexico.adoption.com/

It's just a matter of finding an agency I would think. You would have to look around.

Another thing is to talk with your family about a child of another race. Would they look at this child in a different way and if so are you willing to deal with that. Are you able to step away from your family because of it for your child.

Say they love on your bio child but turn away from your newly adopted Mexican child. Are you going to be able to say "This is my child, you either take him/her for who she is or you don't see any of us".

I completely agree with Amy. If you adopt, you must be willing to walk away from anyone who treats them with anything less than respect. DH and I were ready to cut ties with his parents if need be because of their view of FIL's sister (who joined their family through adoption and was always called "FIL's adopted sister"...he had only 1 sister, uhg). But after a talk about correct adoption language and how we expect our children to be treated, all has been well.

Adoption Options is an agency in San Diego that has a Mexican adoption program. It is VERY difficult to adopt from Mexico and is a long process, but it can be done. I am not sure if they work with Canadians, but a phone call would never hurt...they may even be able to direct you to an agency that can help you.

Good luck,
Cynthia
