canadian adopting from mexico? I'm Canadian - just wondering if it's possible to adopt from Mexico.
I don't want to adopt now, but would like to after I have a biological child, if I ever have one. (Just can't adopt now, as I think I'd see the child as a substitute, and I don't think that's right; not for me, anyway.)
Don't know, though, about all the politics involved. Dh and I are white, and an adopted child would most likely not be white. We are comfortable with this, but our extended families would not be. Argh. I hate that.
Have been thinking about Mexico, anyway, because my dear SIL is Mexican. I thought that she might be a bridge, in a sense. Meaning that the kid wouldn't be the only non-white person in my family. Plus we could really make a strong effort to keep up with language and culture, then, as I'm already learning Spanish.
Just rambling here, and if anyone has any insight, I'd appreciate it. Thank you.
