Unfortunately, too few Canadian members of buddy threads are making the effort to respond to posts outside of their thread within the Canadian Cysters forum.
Here in the Canadian forum, that means that many posts are getting NO replies, and new members are forced to post their questions on a buddy thread to even get someone to LOOK at their questions. Even then, they sometimes get overlooked due to all of the 'personals'.
The long multi-topic threads, also make it hard for new members, and unregistered cysters to run board searches for information they need.
SoulCysters was founded on the idea that cysters helped each other, and it's disappointing to see that canadian cysters aren't supporting those efforts.
While I support the idea of 'social networking buddy threads', when they move beyond that and make it harder for new members to find information on PCOS, a change is in order.
Starting within a few weeks, all buddy threads will be moved to a separate forum. No points or post counts will accrue for replies to buddy threads in that forum, and threads will be deleted after 60 days (ie At any given time only your current month's thread, and 2 additional months will be on the board).
Points and post counts will only increase for posts and replies made
within the Canadian forum.
Thank you for understanding, and my continued thanks to those Canadian cysters who DO make an effort to participate in the Canadian forum OUTSIDE of their buddy thread.
In addition, I'll be looking to add THREE more moderators to help BeetleGirl (who has does a PHENOMENAL job here). The main duties of mods in this forum will be to keep an eye out for 'issues' in this forum, move threads to more appropriate forums when necessary, and direct newbies to appropriate information. (That last part can be as simple as directing them to a soon-to-be created sticky with a list of newbie information).
Lastly, as we move into 2009, I hope to see more PCOS 'media' efforts, and mods might be called upon to interface with reporters, since I'm not really that familiar with Canadian media (and I don't live there.)
Please respond to THIS thread if you are interested in moderating. (
Please do not pm me).
