Default Candex Question

Hello,
Question for anyone taking Candex.....

I started Candex two days ago. I am following the bottle directions to take one pill the first day, two the second day...etc working up to 2 pills 2x a day.

When I take the Candex on an empty stomach, my stomach starts making these extremely loud, god-awful growling noises. No associated gas or other bathroom issues (sorry if TMI).... Also, I am STARVING all morning long.

This only started with the Candex, so I am attributing it to that.... Just curious as to what is going on? Does this mean it's working? Did anyone else experience this at first?

As a side note, I've noticed that my stomach is a lot less bloated, so maybe it is doing something?

Thanks Cysters!
Amanda

Hi Amanda,

Since the Candex is enzymes, digestive enzymes, if there is any food left in your stomach, or the first part of the intestines, it will help with the digestion of this food, while it is digesting the yeast. So the stomach will usually empty completely, and that will make you feel hungry, and make your stomach start growling.

As a nice side effect, because it helps the food digest, and continue moving through, it knocked out my heartburn/acid reflux (even while I was pregnant). So at night, even if I have eaten within 2 hours of going to bed, I take it at bedtime anyway, because it helped so much with my acid reflux. (I used to wake up at night sometimes, when I had reflux, and had breathed it into my trachea, but not any more).

I take it first thing in the morning, and then I shower, get ready, and I can eat breakfast 1 hour after I take the Candex.

Thanks Cara! That makes a lot of sense. I think I am already noticing a digestive improvement after just three days. I can't wait to see how I feel after a whole bottle is gone!

I am new here and trying to gather information -- what aspect of PCOS does this help with?

Hi Zoeanne,

to Soul Cysters

Candex helps kill yeast/candida. I personally believe that a candida overgrowth in the body is what causes PCOS, and that killing the yeast/candida can help to put PCOS into remission. Anything that kills yeast should help with PCOS Tx. I have done candida control 3 different times, using different things, and each time, it put my PCOS into remission, and when I was TTC, I was able to get PG.

You can check out my PCOS story for details.

Thanks so much Cara for th info. I did look at your story and I think it's wonderful! I am very interested in this way of going about my treatment. My #1 concern right now is losing weight. I am at an all-time high and I know I need to lose in order to have another baby -- and I'd like to TTC again in the fall. Do you think this will help with that? I am concerned b/c the PP said she was starving, and I am trying to decrease my appetite, ya know? Anyway, let me know what you think.

Thanks again!! I really appreciate it!!

Hi Zoeanne,

With the Candex, or NSI CYM, you take it at bedtime, and first thing when you wake up. It is made of enzymes, so will help with the digestion of any food that is left in the stomach, so in the morning, you will probably be hungry, because you have an empty stomach. Once you eat a sensible breakfast, that hunger should be satisfied.

I lost over 55 lbs. last year, while I was taking Candex, and Yeast defense for candida control. I was also trying to eat smarter, more nutrition packed foods. More raw fruits and veggies, smaller portions of the higher calorie foods. Drinking more water. Trying to avoid artificial sweeteners, HFCS, and junk food.

I was also taking an herbal formula to help with appetite, but that is no longer available. It had fenugreek, and momordica, and other herbs.

This thread has more about those herbs and some pics I posted : Any alternative to cinnamon

Wow - -congrats on the 55 pounds, Cara -- that's awesome! I will go check out your other thread and see what other details I can find. I am curious to learn a lot more about this and maybe give it a try. I feel like I am running out of options!

I haven't tried the NSI CYM yet, since I still have a whole bottle of Candex left. But, If you compare ingredients, they are almost identical. The Candex has more glucoamylase: 200 compared to 100 in the NSI CYM, but it looks like that is the only difference.
When I run out of Candex, I plan to get the NSI CYM, I hope it is just as good as the Candex.

The Candex list the ingredients per 4 caps, so you need to divide the amounts in half to compare to the NSI amounts, which are listed per 2 caps:

Candex $41.99 for 120 caps (at VitaminShoppe.com)

NSI CYM $39.77 for 240 caps (at VitaCost.com)
