Default Candida overgrowth and treatments

I was wondering if anyone has had problems or experiences with yeast/candida overgrowths. I seem to be overly sensitive to yeast infections, etc. My GP (also into alternative meds) once recommended that I take cordyceps capsules (from a mushroom) for another condition. As soon as I started taking it, I got a horrible yeast infection and also had a re-appearance of ringworm that I had acquired several years earlier from one of my students.

I do take probiotics and eat yogurt regularly. But I am wondering if there is a link in this to PCOS and/or if anyone has tried treating it. I know that diabetics have a tendency to yeast overgrowth, and although my blood sugar is normal I am IR.

Any thoughts? The diets and treament programs are so restrictive that I can't imagine following through with them. But I am willing to try if they are actually helpful...

Nicole,

It is interesting that you should ask about a connection between candida and PCOS. From my personal experience, I have come to believe that an overgrowth of yeast is the cause of PCOS.

I have put my PCOS into remission, and became PG 3 times by doing candida control. The first time was by accident, I took diflucan, and 4 months later I finally got the BFP after 3 years of unsuccessful TTC. Had no clue at the time that it was because of the diflucan killing off the yeast. I didn't do anything else to keep the yeast away. I had an m/c at 9 weeks.

Then, when I was ready to TTC again, I had finally figured out that it must have been because of the diflucan, so I started candida control, and sure enough, 4 months later got my BFP. Aftetr I got the BFP, I took Met, adn Progesterone to make sure I didn't have another m/c. He is now a healthy 3 year old.

So when I was preparing my body to TTC again, I started the candida control, and did it for a year before I started to TTC, and when I finally decided I was ready to TTC, I got the BFP the first month we started TTC. I am now 26 weeks along.

I have put more details in my PCOS story, and my TTC program, links are in my sig. I don't really stick to a restrictive diet either, so I mostly use herbal and enzyme yeast fighting formulas

I also know of a few others who got their BFP after doing candida control. I have a friend who stopped gettign AF 14 years ago, and now that she has started candida control, she has started having AF again. Her AF is not quite regular yet, but it seems to improve as she continues doing the candida control.

Feel free to ask any questions or share your experiences.

I have problem with candida. About year ago I gave up eating any product with yeast (I still miss the cinnamon rolls ) and try to eat as little white flour products and sugar as possible. I also take grapheroot seed extract every morning or apple vinegar in the mornings (both diluted in the juice). It has helped me to control the candida. I have much much less yeast infections and my stomack does not hurt any more.

I also have a problem with candida, I had thought. I am taking high dose of cinnamon and a very high dose of probiotics. The probiotics are Florajen and Florajen 3 . I take one of each on an empty stomach each morning, then wait 20-30 minutes + so they can reach my intestines, ect. I take aprox. 3,600 mg-4,200 mg Cinnamon every day, and it is supposed to help candida, besides help PCOS, IR. It almost takes ALL of my cravings for sugar away...at this dose, and I was addicted to sugar quite badly before this.

hi
ive tried to limit my sugar as much as poss. And stop eating as much mushrooms. Only 2 slices of wf bread a day (trying to reduce yeast). Only wear white cotton knickers. When i start getting itchy 'down below' i have a bath with a little bit of salt in, which seems to help

I am just getting over my second yeast infection in 2 months so I decided to try the candex and acidiphilis. Is it a coincidence that I ovulate maybe a few days after using a YI treatment? I think this was causing a delay in ovulation.
