Unhappy Cant find my answer on Progesterone in previous postings!!

Hello fellow cysters-here's my story-a little long, so I put it in bullets!Diagnosed 2002, put on spiro(not TTC)
-after 1 month of relatively few side effects, manufacturer changed at my pharmacy
-started having breakthrough bleeding, chest pains, other unwanted side effects
-knew I was overweight, that my PCOS was on the least severe side of the charts, and felt that with diet and weight control I could get off the Spiro
-talked to my doctor(great one I may add) and she agreed-her exact words"I'm going to prescribe you progesterone, just in case your periods go more than 6 weeks apart"
-Since then, I have moved, had regular periods(2) till this month, now in my 5th week with no period and getting anxious.
If I take the progesterone(not sure what form she prescribed),will this be something I have to take regularly to get periods to be every 28-30 days forever? Can I take it just to induce this one, then hope the next one will be normal? I'm worried about the effects of any kind of hormones later on, especially with all the hoopla on estrogen replacement meds right now. Anybody know anything to ease my fears? Thanks in advance for all responses!

Smile Hello?

Is anybody out there? I know I may be asking part of something that has already been asked, and I've already done the search thing to try and find my answer. I guess I just want someone to comment on my particular case to give me some answers/advice. ANY WOULD BE APPRECIATED! Thanks

Taking progesterone to get af will not have any negative repurcussions for you later. And how many times you have to take it really varies from woman to woman. It may be that you only have to take it this once and then other factors will restore regular af for you. I am one of those who is totally annovulatory and have to take prog. to get any af at all. I really feel like if I lost at least 30 lbs (which I am now, finally, trying to do) then my af would come back on it's own. It's really very individual. Hope this helps some! Melissa
