Angry Cant get anywhere with doctors.

Since I was 15 I have had all the classic symptoms of PCOS. My first doctor put my on BCP's and said thats all he could do for my heavy cycles and that as I matured things would correct themselves. Well I did that for 4 years and then I stopped taking them b/c I didnt have insurance anymore. Well over the next 3 years I noticed drastic changes. I got very heavy cycles more body hair, skin tags, oily hair and bad acne I also gained 50 pounds. I knew something was wrong but I didn't have money to see a doctor. Finally in April I had to go the the ER b/c I had lost so much blood. I needed a transfusion of 4 pints of blood. I was examined by 3 doctors and ordered to undergo an ultrasound. I was discharged and referred to a free women's clinic. The doctor at the clinic said I had several cysts on both ovaries. She thought for sure I had PCOS and ordered all the necessary lab tests. They tested all my hormones and glucose. Today I found out the results. The doctor said all my test results were normal. Very slightly elevated blood sugar but normal hormone levels. I felt like crying. I asked them why I had all these symptoms and yet everything was normal !!! How can everything be fine when I don't ovulate and I cant get pregnant. They told me that b/c my LH level was normal I could not be diagnosed with PCOS. They want me to take BCP's and lose weight. They said my body just makes too much estrogen and that maybe after a couple years my body will be normal. They dismissed my problems b/c I am only 23 and they think "nature" will take over. Now I don't know what to do. Should I just go with what they say or follow my gut instinct and keep trying to find answers ?

Go with your gut! Too many cysters have gotten bad advice like that. Many of us have NORMAL lab tests but have PCOS. I avoid BCPs and am on a lower carb diet and Metformin, both of which have helped my symptoms! There is no test for PCOS yet, it is a syndrome of elimiation, not a disease. Please check this link:

I second that. Just because you are only 23 does not mean you are too young to start taking care of this. You might want to check the "recommend a doctor" board here, and find someone who knows more about PCOS than your current doc seems to.
