Ok sorry I was being thick, I have found the answer if anyone else is interested.
Why are the Total carbs so high in the products?
Carbolite products contain certain carbohydrates such as Sugar Alcohols. Sugar Alcohols, like Maltitol and others, are a carbohydrate and, therefore, need to be counted in the Total Carbs. Maltitol is a low, slow digestible carb that has little, if any, effect on the body’s blood glucose levels. Therefore, they can be subtracted from the Total Carb count, leaving only Net Effective Carbs.
What are Net Effective Carbs?
Net Effective Carbs are the carbohydrates that can be digested and processed by the body as a dietary carbohydrate and, therefore, have an impact on the body’s blood glucose levels. These are calculated by subtracting the Sugar Alcohols (Polyols), Glycerine and fibre from the Total Carb count. When calculating your total carb intake you need only count the Net Effective Carbs.
