Unhappy Carnation baby gift arrived today....

I just need a little vent.

Last fall when I got my BFP, I joined some sites that offered free gifts for moms to be. When I had my miscarriage I kindly emailed them to take my name off their list because of the m/c. Well this is the second item I received in the mail the past 2 weeks. I got some formula 2 weeks ago and today I got a diaper bag with formula, bottle and some other small items. I thought I was grieving well but this made me feel incredibly sad. How can companies not keep track of people requesting removal from their lists especially when someone has a miscarriage? I want to give it away but part of me feels I should keep it in case. BTW my due date was june 2nd =(. We have not yet started TTC again because of my bleeding issues. Ok my vent is over!

((hugs)) I agree they should keep better records but unfortunately they dont. Maybe you could write them a letter to let them know how you feel? I'm sorry that recieving those gifts opened your *wound*. Many prayers that your TTC journey is short and sticky vibes when you get your BFP.

I'm so sorry----this has happened to me too but the kicker is that I didn't sign up for the stuff--all I can figure is that the company where I got my IVF drugs sold my name and address to these companies--or maybe it was my RE's office? I get Parenting magazines, boxes of formula samples etc. It makes me really mad/sad whenever I get something like that in the mail, because it's like it "rips the scab off" my grief over losing my baby.

I'm sorry for your loss (((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))

I'm sorry they did that. I got a lot of stuff like that while I was TTC. I have experienced multiple m/c. I hadn't signed up for any of it, so I don't know why I was getting them. It's hard enough watching Balmex commercials on TV, but to have something real in your hands is much worse. I hope you don't receive anything else. Do with it whatever you want. Don't feel you have to keep it. If you want to, that's okay, too.

This is really quite common. But still, it's so wrong. It really hurts to get this stuff. I've been getting Baby talk magazine in the mail. I never ordered a subscription. It started coming in January, I lost Kyler back in October and hadn't even o'ed yet for January. I even got am invitation from the hospital were I had my D&C to come to childbirth classes. That pregnancy ended at 11 wks so, I know I was never registered to deliver there.

You are not alone, I know how much this must hurt. I just give the stuff away to someone at work who has a 5 month old. I figure by the time I need it it will be too old to use. You could always donate it to a women's shelter. At least it would be doing some good for someone else.

(((((BIG HUGS)))))

Oh my, I remember those. The magazines, the "gifts", formula. It is all too hard. I also seemed to get mine on significant dates, which meant that I was already having a bad enough day as it was. I am so sorry. I too asked to be removed, followed all of their instructions, but to no avail, the stuff still came. I am sorry that you had to experience that too. It like a cruel joke that someone is playing on us. Big Hugs. I agree donation is a great idea, I gave mine away to pg friends, but that still doesn't make it easy or okay.

Thanks so much for the responses. I am feeling better today. I just put the stuff away so I don't have to look at it. We will start TTC again probably summer/fall depending on what my RE says next week. Thanks for the support!

I get stuff in my e-mail all the time. I don't understand their reasoning. The only reason I can think of for someone to cancel something is b/c they lost the baby. Why would they make it worse for the moms and dads?

I hope when you do get to TTC again, it'll go quickly.

I think that you should use this as an opportunity to save it all up until you have accumulated a bit of it, then maybe drop it off to a homeless shelter where there are young women with small babies in need of things like that, just put a little card in it with your little angels name on it and write something like, " even though im far away, an angel will watch over you every day........... and then put your angel babies name, i think that holding onto it is just going to be harder on you, but dont feel sad, think of this as an opportunity.

I am very sorry for your loss. I have been in your same situation. I still am. Even after sending emails and canceling memberships. I to this day 4 years later still get coupons etc for baby (toddler/preschool) items... I guess big companies just loose track of your memberships etc...

I lost my William in July of 2004 and I STILL get stuff in the mail. DH used to throw it out before I got home, so I would not see it. Now that I work at home, I get the mail first. The kicker is that it is all age appropriate, so I know just what size diapers, etc. my son should be wearing were he alive today. Torture! I am convinced that they sell our names and it is impossible to stop. I wonder if I will be getting college info for him in another 14 or 15 years!

I'm sorry. It sucks that they do this to us. Write them a letter - it's worth a shot.
