carnitine concerns Recent studies indicate that L -carnitine is a periferal antagonist of thyroid hormone action at least in some tissues.
The study I just read in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism (Benvenga et al. 86:8 3579-3594) actually considers the use of this supplement for cases of hypERthyroidism.
If this is true, hypOthyroid people should probably avoid it.
If you take any "health supplements" or fitness powders, etc. check the labels.
