yeah, I have it, but mine is work related. I type a lot, and do a lot of hand work for my crafts.

People with pre-diabetes and insulin resistance are more prone to CTS, however it is usually daily repetitive activities such as typing that bring on the symptoms. Try buying a brace for wearing at night. You can find them at both Target and Walgreens (Walgreens has a better selection). Also things like Aleve or Advil will help the symptoms as well as ice packs.

Mini Goal- 140- REACHED 7/28/08!!! New Mini Goal- 130! - REACHED 10/10/08!!! 27 years old- no meds- trying to get healthy through diet and exercise
After being diagnosed with PCOS I started having CPS symptons till they gradually over time progressed into finger and arm shooting pains. I SWORE up and down I had CPS because I constantly am on the computer, I waitressed for 8 years carrying trays bending my wrists back etc.
I had EMG and an MRI with my DR thinking I may have neck herniation because they could not explain WHY I had such horrible pain. I lived for 5 months with the pain, no sleep, consistent upsetting Dr. appointments trying to find out what the problem was while I could barely use my arms. Being a nanny with two young kids made work impossible.......
One simpler blood test later, my bloodsugar was high, DIagnosed Pre-Diabetic and now have Nerve Damage in my arms and take medication for it. WIthout the meds I still have the pain...
Just do yourself a favor and get checked out cause I wouldn't wish the pain I had on anyone.
I also have had all the tests and they come back fine. But I've had the pain for 5 years. I do use my hands a lot for my job, but I know MILLIONS of people who do this work for a living and do not have pain.
I recently found a doctor who dx me CTS using an "alternate" method. He says I have nerve damage and must get the release surgery, but I am terrified that it will not fix the problem.
What meds are you taking that help you? I have tried so many with no results.
I take 300mg of Lyrica a day. Its been an amazing change for me the pain is very very minimal compared to how it used to be. Its not available generically because its relatively new but if you haven't tried it should talk to your doctor and see if it helps you.
I have noticed the symptoms are lessened while I've been on the Metformin, but it still gets bad after working a long time.
If there is a link between insulin resistance and CTS, then that would explain the correlation in symptoms. Both sets of problems started around the same time.
