I'm new hear (was reading your side for a while, but never want to write something because of my english), but today I felt like writing something.
Im 29, in 1999 or 2000 my doc find out that I have PCO.
I always was complaining about too much body hair and acne.
At this time my hairloss begann.
A few docs confirmed me to have PCO.
How comes that I had my period every month (regular, with out the BCP) and I never was overweight.
I was on diane 35 and androcur for a while (few years) it helped me a little bit with my acne, after that I took yasmin till I get pregnant. (Also there I had no problem, to get pregnant)
My bodyhair, facial hair get really really bad in the pregnancy. My gyn told me they will all fall out after I gave birth.
It wasnt like that, I have more and more hair in the wrong places (gave birth in may 2005)
Also my acne is terrible. I had for time roaccutane, after stop taking it, my acne was back.
The worst thing is my HAIRLOSS. It makes me crazy and aggresive, Im fighting all the time with my husband (because of my bad mood)
It seems like yasmin dont help me. I loosing every day 400-500 day. Today was even more, after washing my hair.
I tried a lot of stuff with no help. Only eucapil did help but this was before my pregnancy, after that i tried again with no results.
Was on spiro (only 50mg) had to stop it because I have already a very low bloodpleasure and spiro made it lowver. My heart was hurting me all the time, my doc said i have to stop it.
I read here a lot of flutamide .
But my question is, how comes that nobody ever tried casodex. I heard this is better than anything else with almost no sideeffects?
Im so confused I really dont know what to do. (i have already bald spots on my head)I used to have beautyfull curly long blackhair and now I have wavy hair and you can see through the long hair.
Please help me what I need to do.
I can not live anymore with a hairloss like that.
I, too, find it surprising that people rarely post about Casodex. Casodex (bicalutamide) is a drug that's similar to flutamide, but newer. I've never seen any studies comparing Casodex and flutamide in PCOS patients, so it's hard to say whether it would work any better for us. It certainly might. Some people think it's more effective. Some people also think it's safer. It seems Casodex had fewer instances of side effects than flutamide in its initial studies, but most or all of those were instances of minor side effects that most people on the doses of flutamide we take probably don't get anyway. It's entirely unclear if Casodex is any less likely to cause liver failure, which is the truly problematic (though very rare!) side effect of flutamide.
Flutamide is cheaper because generic versions are available. Flutamide has also been used in many more studies of PCOS patients than Casodex has. I suspect those two reasons account for the relative popularity of flutamide.
I have read a post by someone who regrew a lot of scalp hair on Casodex. I've read posts by people who have regrown hair on flutamide too though. (Sadly I'm not one of them.)
I really need to do something about my hairloss.
Didnt left the house now for 3 days because of my mood.
Im so sorry for my husband and son.
I will call my doc tomorrow for an appointment and will ask him which one he think it will work better for me flutamide or casodex (im more for casodex, because of the less sideeffects).
Sometimes I think who cares of the sideeffects, better live an nice life again with a lot of hair, than live a life with no medication and no hair which is not worth for live it, but then I just think to my son and say to my self and pray to god, that i could be very long on his side.
As you can see its very conflicting.
I'm taking 325mg/day of flutamide, and it has completely cleared my (terrible!) acne. I only get occasional zits now. I do still use prescription topicals (Azelex and Differin), so they may help, but they certainly didn't clear up my acne before the flutamide. It hasn't slowed my hair loss any though, unfortunately.
I haven't gotten any side effects from the flutamide, for whatever that's worth, with the exception of slightly elevated liver enzymes when I was taking 500mg/day for a while.
