My Mood: Points: 1,529.89 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,529.89 | Our thread is on the Catholic Answers Forum?? Sweet!! Welcome Kim and Tradertif! Happy to have you!
Well ladies, Steve is coming out to Michigan to meet me the weekend of December 8th - Feast of the Immaculate Conception! He's really cute how excited he gets over Marian feast days. Sigh, I'm so excited. I really hope it works with us. He's Catholic, charismatic, Marian, cute , funny, dances, and challenges me to be holier! Definitely wouldn't be settling.... My dad is kind of funny about this. Steve hasn't called him but my dad says when he does he better be on his toes. He feels kind of responsible for the troubles my brother and sil are having b/c both he and my mom thought they weren't ready to get married but didn't bring it up. He said he won't make that mistake again. I told him not to worry. I've seen the troubles my bro and sil have had (and are having) and I'm not wearing any rose-colored glasses here. My dad also doesn't want me to move to Louisiana where Steve is from. But I gotta go where God wants me to go, kwim?
Speaking of going, gotta get back to work!
ciao cysters!

My older 3 siblings all have/had marital issues and my dad was very adament about pointing out to my DH (then bf or fiancee) that he had certain expectations for the man I married and would voice his opinion if things weren't as he hoped for me. Luckily, my DH met all the requirements my dad was looking for and happily walked me down the aisle. It's nice that they care so much. But it's even better when our own eyes are open to potential problems and we're adult enough to recognize that! Best wishes for his visit
Tam-I can't believe you're over 1/2 way there...didn't you JUST tell us you were pregnant?!?!?

Tradertif- I said the same thing when I joined!
I bumped my doc appointment up to this thursday. DH has to travel for work and somehow (praise God) we worked it out that DD and I can go with him. So somehow I was able to reschedule to this week. Since going on met my cycles have shortened and regulated (for 4 cycles I have gotten a positive opk on day 16 and then had a temp rise on day19) so it looks like I ovulate on day 18 but as we know "looks" doesn't mean that I do. So far no luck conceiving so it looks like we will try a light dosage of clomid.
The doctor might ask for DH to have a sperm analysis. What are all your thoughts on it? I have looked into the church's view on fertility help but the opinion varies widely on what is accepted with the sperm analysis. Some priests have suggested it is similar as when women take BCPs to help regulate so that later on they can conceive. Yet, others are opposed to it basically saying if the man ejaculates outside of the woman it is wrong no matter what. Any thoughts? |

We did a semen analysis this past spring. Since my hubby had a vasectomy reversal after he became Catholic we needed to know if that was why we hadn't conceived. For collection you need to use a perforated condom (has holes and no spermicide) We ordered ours through Pope Paul VI in Omaha. Our Creighton/Fertilitycare doctor gave us the phone number. Our local hospital lab did the analysis. We did have some difficulites with the collection but PM me or I can try to PM you since I wouldn't want to discuss it in public.

Kara, I am getting sooooo excited for you!!! I must tell you that I thought about you the other day, because Al Kresta was on EWTN. I told my husband that I knew someone that worked with him.
You know, it's really amazing. I just had one of the BEST periods ever (if that can be said about periods!) My body is FINALLY turning back around! I go to see my doctor in two weeks. I hope he will be pleased! The Metformin, combined with Progesterone and Clomid seems to work like a charm! Our Lady of La Leche, pray for us!!!

My Mood: Points: 1,529.89 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,529.89 | I'm glad you saw Al. He actually forgot about that and had to jump in the car and book it down to EWTN right after a grueling membership drive (where we beg our listeners for money). Al is having a great time teasing me right now about being in a play. Have I told you ladies about that? I'm the lead in our community theater production of You Can't Take It With You. It's a blast but my "lover" is like 45 - at least. Al likes to tease me about having to kiss him. Viva community theater!

LOL Of course the only thing I really need to do is pull out the neutral things, fill in where needed and pop up the bassinet. LOL It is the deep cleaning I am trying to do on the house, and a bit more construction we are trying to do that is making me stress - want to get as much of that done before we have another little one out and about! Are you all ready to go?
Candice ~ I hope the appt. and the trip both go well!
Carrie ~ YAY! I am glad things are turning around for you!
Kara ~ How is the play going? Are you still in practice or have you actually done a performance? How fun!!!

My Mood: Points: 557.77 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 557.77 | Becky- I have heard of this being done. Unfortunately, our local hospitals are real picky over these kind of things (they are stuck in the age where doctors are considered gods...we are just starting to make headway with midwives in the area), they like the sample to be collected in the hospitals. I will have to talk to my doc to see if there is any way for this to be done...awkward but hey anything for a baby! I can't send a pm since I haven't posted 30 times yet (someday I will just post a bunch of times to get it over with already lol). But I will let you know after I talk to my doc if its a go so I can get your advice on collection and the place where you got the condoms.
Kara- I belong to one of those internet sites that rent out dvd's and You Can't Take It With You is the next one they are sending! |

Candice, you do not have to answer this question here - just want to give you some food for thought....
Do you really want to see a doctor that is not willing to allow you to decide what and how things are done for you?
For two years I saw a doctor that was not a Christian - I believe she was athiest - and had a bit of an "I am the greatest" attitude. BUT I continued to see her because she was respectful enough about our beliefs ( at my first visit I told her I was Catholic and what that meant about my treatment options ). As hard as it would have been for me to find another doctor ( as I had already tried almost everyone in my immediate area ), I would have looked for one if she was unwilling to work with me, kwim? The only reason I am not still seeing her because she moved to another state.
Kara, your life sounds very exciting right now.
Carrie, I was so excited when my periods became more normal.
Hello to everyone else, and welcome to the new people.
Have a great day! |

My Mood: Points: 557.77 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 557.77 | MaryMicheal- Thanks for the thoughts. I should clarify. I am very pleased with my current doctor and feel he is who God wants me to see. I am not worried about him, if anything he will do what he can for me to help work with my beliefs. It's the head of ob-gyn in the area who is the real pain. He thinks he is god ( I have numerous nightmare stories with this guy...I pray he has a conversion and starts truly serving the women and children or leaves). Initially, he was the only doctor in my area with whom I could go for my fertility problems. I gave him a go until he told me temp charting was an old wives tale and tested me for all the wrong things at the wrong times and declared that I had 'secondary infertility' and wanted to put me on a high dosage of clomid (why do some doctors think we are stupid and cannot research???). I stopped going to him and left it up to God. The doctor I am seeing currently is new to the area and he is wonderful (actually knows what he is doing!!! ). The only negative thing is that his hands are tied by his boss (the aforementioned doctor). I really feel God desires a massive change in our area and is starting to line up his intercessors for it!!!
Kara- The mail seems terribly slow when you are waiting for something. I will let you know what I think of the movie when I get to see it. Enjoy being smitten! |

Kara ~ *sigh* Let us know how your first performance goes! And make sure to keep us up on Steve.
Well, DH went in for testing today and apparantly they already tested him for celiac during his first visit this last spring, but are doing it again because you can sometimes get a false neg if symptoms aren't happening right then. His sugars have been fine and he has been off insulin since June - not sure if he has diabetes (type 1) or if it could have just been a temp diabetic problem due to diet, stomach issues, etc. They won't test him for the antibodies so unless he starts up again we will never know. He also had his A1c done, which will tell him how things have been going over the last few months. *sigh* Should hear back in the next couple of weeks what is what - then he may be referred to a specialist if things aren't improving and tests come back negative for celiac.
That is about it from this corner - hoping to do some thrift shopping tomorrow, looking for neutral baby things. WOO HOO! LOL AND taking a few things there to get rid of...just hoping I don't bring back as much as I am dropping off! LOL

Becky- Please pm me with all your advice!!! It's a go for us.
My doctor appointment went well. I think I have a crush on my doctor ...he is just so sweet and really wants me to get pregnant. It's nice that he is so supportive. Lots of good news. Our small local lab allows for the semen samples to be dropped off so we are all set to things properly. Will have to wait until we get back but that is ok. Also, my doctor loves my charts and thinks I will probably conceive without the aid of fertility drugs. For a second, he thought I was already on clomid because the charts were so good! Woo hoo! So he says it is totally up to me if I want to try a low dosage or not. We will check out DH and then take it from there. I think I will want to confirm that I am ovulating on my own with an ultra-sound.
Enjoy your weekend! |

OK, ladies, I am really frustrated.. I went to the gyn today and he did NOT LISTEN to me at all, I explained my faith, my liver tumor, and my severe weight gain on HBC, and still he asked "so, why don't you want to go on the pill???" SERIOUSLY!?!?!?! He ONLY ran ONE blood test today.. liver function, to see if I can go back on met.. then he's only putting me on 1000mg/daily. Will that DO anything?
ANyone have any prayers for St. Margaret of Anticoch??? one of the Fourteen Holy Helpers. She is invoked against sterility, for expectant mothers, for women in childbirth, and against loss of milk for nursing mothers.
