My Mood: Points: 1,077.49 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,077.49 | Thanks for the prayers and kind words ladies! I just got back from the doctor's and it's actually more good news than bad. The good news is, since I started going to this practice, I’ve lost 20% of my body fat. I’ve gone from being clinically “obese” (I wasn’t obese in how society thinks of it) to just finding out today, I’m in the normal range for my height. The new doctor is a very kind, funny guy. He’s very chatty, didn’t stop talking from the moment he stepped in the room. He’s very impressed and says I could probably stop taking glucophage! He did do an ultrasound and found nothing abnormal – no fibroids, or any bad thing that would have caused the bleeding. He did find some cysts on the ovaries which frustrates me b/c that means they’re still getting trapped and not being released into the uterus…. But instead of a ring of cysts, there was just one, so that’s good. He thinks the abnormal discharge I had was just some spotting during ovulation.
And I have a very lovely vase of red roses sitting on my desk. Sigh, I've never had a valentine before!!!
love, Kara |

I remember for years on Valentine's Day feeling like "when is it going to be MY turn?" Well, the day finally came 3 years ago, and boy was I happy!!! I'm glad things went well at the doctor today! Kara, it's so funny, I feel like I know you, yet I've never met you!
Have a blessed evening!!!

Points: 5,283.50 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 5,283.50 | Hi just checking in, I'm still new to this thread. Just wanted to know if you can say some prayers. I am trying to schedule our baby's Baptism and I'm having a hard time with the church. I wanted to have a private Baptism, instead of a group one, so I am willing to pay the extra fee. I started by requesting the Pastor of our church who everyone loves, but he was unavailable for all of the dates I was asking for. I have limited dates because my Godparents that I have chosen both have to fly in from chicago and boston, so we are trying to work around their work schedules. Anyway, I gave up trying to get oour Pastor, but now I am goin back and forth with the religious coordinator and she said it's hard to find a priest--period! I never thought it would be so difficult to schedule a Baptism She also said that we could have her baptised by a deacon? Oh well, I hope she can come up with a priest so my friends and family can make their travel arrangements. I am requesting this for May, so it's not like it's the last minute? Thanks for listening |

A deacon can validly baptize, just as validly as a priest. Is there a deacon at your parish that you like? That would be a great option. I will pray for your situation to work out very soon.
God Bless,
Carrie

Points: 1,844.81 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,844.81 | Gosh I'm sorry how time got away from me. I realized today that the reason I wasn't on this month's group which is why I'd lost touch.
Anyways, no really big news on my end. I went to see Phantom of the Opera with 2 other couples and my dbf last Friday, and it was so incredible. It has been my favorite musical since I was 12, so it was really special to get to see it
Otherwise, the 20 credits I'm taking this semester is keeping me incredibly busy. I just had a big test today so my brain is a little fried at the moment...lol. I'm really glad it is done. Dbf has some surprise plans for us tomorrow night, so I'm looking forward to that.
Otherwise as far as health stuff....my weight hasn't been budging which is a little frustrating. After that loss from mid Dec-mid Jan I haven't lost any. Its a little frustrating since I was getting hopeful that I might make my way down to what is called clinically "normal" for my height. I have 5-6 pounds to get down to that. So we have another appt with the ob/gyn (finally) on next Wednesday. I also decided to go see an endo to make sure there aren't any other metabolic issues wrong (cortisol, other subclinical thyroid, leptin....), because I'm still eating very little (1000-1100 cal/day) and it worries me about what the future holds. I'd really like to lose this weight.....all these issues started in May 06 so I'm just really ready to continue having good results.
Other than that, things are going pretty well.....I will try and post again soon to respond to others.....hope you all are doing well!!! |

My Mood: Points: 598.94 Bank: 1,165.51 Total Points: 1,764.45 | Welcome back, Masked Rose! That's awesome that you saw Phantom! Did you see it on Broadway, or was it the traveling cast? Did you see where my parish did a mini-production of it a few weeks ago, and I was Christine? As soon as I have a recording of it, I'll put it up on the internet so everyone can see!
Maybe the reason you're having trouble losing weight is because you aren't eating enough. Have you ever tried Weight Watchers? That's what I'm doing, and they teach you that you have to EAT to lose. It's all about portion control, the good health guidelines they give you, and exercise. I encourage you to check it out, if you haven't already. I've lost 25 lbs. so far! The key is going to the weekly meetings. It holds you accountable, you get all kinds of great tips, and lots of support!
Happy Friday, everyone!
God Bless,
Carrie

My Mood: Points: 1,486.20 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,486.20 | Hello to all you Catholic Cysters!
It's been a while since I posted here but I've been trying to follow your conversation a bit. I have a question for you ladies though, do you find that being stressed makes you feel physically worse? I'm in university right now and I'm finding that this semester is more stressful than any other I've had so far, and I think it's making me feel worse because of it.
My acne seems to be acting up a lot more than usual and even weight loss is tougher, not that it was particularly easy before. Headaches and other typically stress related things have been bothering me a little bit but not too much. It almost feels like my body is burnt out of being stressed... sigh.
Happily, Luckily, this coming week is our winter break, so I'll have some time to relax and catch up on my sleep. Please pray for all this stress though, I don't think it's doing my body any good.
Also, Brooke, Congratulations on your son's baptism, what an exciting time for your family! Let us know how it goes!

My Mood: Points: 598.94 Bank: 1,165.51 Total Points: 1,764.45 | Hi, Ladies!
Vieenbelle, stress is one of the top reasons people get heart disease, ulcers, and so many other health problems. Especially for us cysters, we need to take time every day out of our busy schedules to exercise, for that speeds up our sluggish metabolisms, AND relieves stress! Find a form of exercise that you enjoy--running, walking, swimming, dancing, aerobics--just something to get your body moving and relieve stress. It's also very important to spend time with Jesus every day. Take just 15 minutes to pray a rosary or read a devotional. That also helps keep you focused on God, and relieves stress.
I don't think there is a cyster that doesn't deal with acne. I know from first-hand experience that when I'm under the most stress (like two years ago when I was planning my wedding!), I have the most breakouts. What also has helped me is to get on a good skin care system, such as Mary Kay (I should know, I'm a consultant!) Since I started using Mary Kay 2 1/2 years ago, my skin has calmed down SO much! Sure, I get the occasional breakouts--usually only once or twice a month, but I have products that do wonders to take care of that!
Hope this info helps. My prayers for you!
God Bless,
Carrie

I also find it ironic that before I was dx with PCOS I had a number of doctors tell me that my irregular cycles were related to stress.
Have a great weekend ladies!!!

Thanks for the info Carrie -- Can I ask what type of Mary Kay you'd reccomend? My aunt is also a consultant and since I'll be seeing her in a few days I can order something from her if you have a recommendation. I tried the Velocity for a while but I didn't have much of a result with it.

My Mood: Points: 598.94 Bank: 1,165.51 Total Points: 1,764.45 | Vieenbelle, since your skin is blemish-prone, I would ask your aunt if you could try the Classic Basic Skin Care, Formula 3. It's what I use, and I LOVE it! Make sure she gives you the entire Formula 3 line including a medium-coverage foundation, because they are all meant to work together. In our skin care line, the foundation is the final step in taking care of your skin, as it protects it from the elements in the atmosphere. You could also try the new Mineral Powder Foundation instead of the medium-coverage, if you want a lighter coverage and more natural look.
For those times when you tend to break out more, try the Acne Treatment Gel. Beauty Blotters are also good for getting rid of that shine.
Your aunt may try to sell you the TimeWise skin care. If she does, ask her if you can try the TimeWise Face Bar instead of the Combination/Oily Cleanser, along with the TimeWise Combination/Oily Moisturizer, and of course your choice of foundation. The TimeWise Combination/Oily Cleanser is to harsh for acne-prone skin, and can aggravate blemishes. The Face Bar is much more gentle, because it doesn't have any "scrubby beads" in it. But my first choice would be the Classic Basic Skin Care, Formula 3.
Please let me know if you have anymore questions!
God Bless,
Carrie
