Christine, congrats on your pending engagement! I hope your father gives you a great blessing! I think it's sweet that men are still doing that! That's what my husband did, when we wanted to get engaged! I think Ellie is right. Listen to her!
Wow, I can't believe all of the blushing soon-to-be brides in here! It's so cool!!!
God Bless,
Carrie

I don't know what I'd do in that situation. I am in a similar one, my DBF was engaged before too. I guess I never really think about her or that I'm not his first... But honesty is ALWAYS the best policy. If he knew there was still a page up for him and his ex, he'd probably want it down more than you.
Thank you for the gift Carrie!
Usually I'm the first to step in anywhere here with the Catholic point of view, but I do not have the time to look at this new BCP thread. I highly encourage everyone else too. We need to support each other. It's interesting to note that when BCP was first introduced EVERY SINGLE CHRISTIAN DENOMINATION was dead-set against it.
Gotta run,
Kara |

Oh I agree honesty is the best policy....and I have no qualms in bringing it up sometime. I think I agree though, the best time will/would be after we are engaged and are thinking about putting up a wedding website of our own. I agree with you Kara...he probably doesn't realize it is still up. From what I can tell, it was something his ex created, so who knows how much involvement he had in it.
I feel much better about that issue today though...overall for me I just need to ride through emotions and sort them out till I can think more clearly
I have to speak up in my Over-the-Counter Thereapeutics class tomorrow about natural family planning. The 1-2 slides on NFP in our lecture on contraception tomorrow are INCREDIBLY outdated and have tons of misinformation. They only discuss the rythmn method which today is very outdated....luckily dbf has lots of articles (scientific articles too!) on the efficacy and benefits of the Creighton Model Method. I sent a long e-mail to the professors in a non-threatening manner....just explaining I have some information to supplement the lecture....and I went on to explain it a little and gave 4 websites. I got an e-mail back from one of the profs just now, and he asked me to talk about it some.
Pray for me!!! It will be difficult to get up and talk about nfp to 110 pharmacy students (and my classmates)....but I KNOW it is soooo important for people to understand that nfp isn't something to brush aside...even when you put aside moral issues against it (which is obviously a big part for me) there is A LOT of clinical relivance!
Hope you all are having a great Wednesday and thanks for your input on my earlier stuff.....I'm feeling much better and I'm pretty sure everything will be fine (my dad is probably calling Tom tonight....**crossing fingers**) |

Well ladies, I am still hanging onto this baby - gestation of an elephant. LOL Actually I am not overdue yet, but every day that brings me closer to that date just makes me more and more anxious. Trying a bunch of natural things to try and get things going. Baby looks to be about the same size as my first two, so I should have no problems having him/her.
It is true Kara, my babies just get too comfy in there and don't want to leave! LOL
I am in the process of packing my bags and getting the house in some kind of order before the big day. I have been so slow about getting that done. lol Off to get more accomplished, maybe baby has been waiting for mom to get that done...

I am with the Society of Pius the X. We aren't sedevacantists. I think you meant to say Pius the V? Our priests say the Traditional Latin Mass. Rubrics of 1962... Thank you for the welcome. Congratulations on your pregnancy. Were you taking any medications to conceive? God bless!

I had to (or I guess I choose to) give a speech on why couples should use NFP instead of BC (of any kind) and I attend a very liberal college. Believe it or not, students DO want to hear about NFP and most are pretty ignorant. I give you a lot of credit for telling them! I'll be praying!

Yes, Christine, if you haven't already go to the Religion & BCP forum, and post your info!
Ellie, I'm so sorry you're having to deal with this. I know how you feel, because my brother at one point was an atheist. Now he claims to be Jewish, but doesn't practice. We have a lot of people praying that he'll convert to Catholicism and become a priest! But we'll see what happens with that!
God Bless,
Carrie

My Mood: Points: 5,790.08 Bank: 53,129.34 Total Points: 58,919.42 | Anastasia ~ I did mean SSPX as some people think your society is sedevacantists. I have never taken any fertility drugs and I was only on Met for a very short time before conceiving #3 (about 2 weeks), so I have conceived all of mine on my own. There is a huge gap between my first two as my PCOS was at an all time high for those years and we couldn't figure out what was going on. I ended up running across info. on the internet and was dx right before I found out I was pg with #2. I had started eating cinnamon like crazy right before conceiving her as that has been shown to help with IR, and I think that along with my activity level helped.
With this one I had finally gotten my cycles more regular and dropped about 35-40lbs with a healthy diet and exercise - ended up being able to time this pg, so this has actually been my only "planned" pg, all the rest were surprises!
I hope you are able to conceive another little one, are you on meds or going the natural route? God bless you!

Points: 2,041.31 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 2,041.31 | Hi Ladies,
So I want to know your opinions on Metformin XR....I have been on it since October, starting with 500mg 1x a day. Dr. Hilgers increased it in November to 1000mg/day. During the first month and a half on that dose, I lost 10lb, and was able to stop working out to excess (down from 5 days a week to 3....I've always been told by my nutritionist I work out too much for my low calorie intake....I'm a little skeptical, but over Christmas break this made me wonder since I did not have as much time to workout). I also felt like my sugar cravings were way way down from what they had been over the last 2 years. It was wonderful!
But then in the middle of January, I started progesterone shots, and my weight loss stopped. I started having sugar/food cravings again too. I know that progesterone can antagonize the effect of Metformin, so I am wondering if that is one thing that happened.
Anyways, I had an appt. with him again yesterday (Tom comes with me for support since sometimes I have trouble being assertive with doctors), and we explained how my weight is a concern if there is anything else we can do...we explained our thinking on some things, and at first Dr. Hilgers seemed iritated. But when we backed off and let him explain his thinking on things, we ended up with a decent plan for now. I'm stopping the progesterone shots for a bit and he did agree to try increasing my met to 1500mg (He didn't think I needed it since my insulin resistance is only "moderate"...but I know it 1500mg is considered "therapuetic level"....and I know people are sometimes put on it who are not insulin resistant.....I dunno....but at least we are trying it!). Last he wants me to chart my temperatures 4x a day for 5 days since he wants to see if I could try T3 hormone. Tom and I originally were skeptical about this, but that is one reason Dr. Hilgers was irritated...that we researched it and were skeptical. So I don't know.....I think we are going to give it a try since he assured us that he has done a lot of research on it.
I felt bad because Dr. Hilgers is someone who deserves respect, but at the same time, I think I have a right to question and bring up concerns since it is my body. I have concerns, and legitamate ones. I am excusing it in the sense that maybe something happened earlier in the day that made him irritable or maybe he is just used to needing to take a stand on his research. So yeah.....kinda awkward situation. I see him in 3 months again, and hopefully something will have worked.
Though in the meantime, we do have an appointment with an endocrinologist to check out other metabolic/GI issues that Dr. Hilgers may not be able to. Maybe she will figure something out.....and overall, I really do respect Dr. Hilgers and I would probably follow his care plan if they conflict...I do think one issue with Dr. Hilgers is that I'm not married and not trying to get pregnant. So it makes his treatments harder to do....
Anyways, thanks for letting me get this out! |
