Hello all! I am currently out of church so that I may chose where I want to go, not how I was raised. I am very much interested in Catholicism. I was raised baptist/pentecostal. Could any one shed some light on Catholics for me?

Hi Stephanie

I would highly recommend Scott Hahn, in was a convert to our faith and has an amazing testimony to share!! I also "picked" the Catholic faith! But really God led me to the truth, I hope he does the same to you.. its a wonderful faith! I noticed you were ttc, so Iam for #2, www.fertilitycare.ca is a great Catholic/Christian Dr system that helped me concieve my DS! Go to the links for lots of info! PM if you ever want to chat!

Peace of Christ,
Jessica

I've been Catholic since I was 13. I decided to become Catholic and I'm very glad I did otherwise I wouldn't have met my husband and had our two children. Being Catholic saved my sanity... I grew up with very abusive parents and I truly believe to this day that God helped me find Catholicism so I could survive that part of my life. I don't know what it was but I'm forever grateful for finding The Church.

But other Catholic ladies please chime in... I posted on another thread about wanting to have more children someday. I was very young (I had both kids before I was 22) and it was a very rough patch in my marriage so we did not really have the joy everyone speaks of. We just did what we had to do to get by. I would very much like to have another child someday (maybe I'm crazy, selfish, or maybe it's just because I'm Catholic), but other people here basically told me to shut up and stop being greedy. I don't think I am. I would just like to maybe have another baby sometime. Your thoughts

Children are a great gift from God.. and with that I believe comes prayer and discernment to bring them into the world That said, PRAY, DISCERN God will speak to you and let you know.. as Catholics the wonderful thing about NFP is we are always open to allowing God to send us children.. there is no barriers of controlling that.. I dont think it matters what other people tell you, all that matters is the will of God for your life, and I pray that you search it out.. ps I want 6 children but we will see what God wants! Peace of Christ!

Hi, Ladies!

Just checking in. I know it's been a while. It's been awfully quiet on here lately! Welcome to all of the newbies! Whitebird, I agree--children are a gift from God, so don't let anyone try to convince you to not TTC anymore.

I went to the doctor this morning, and he's cutting my Metformin dosage in half. This is an experiment to see how it goes. I told him I thought I was taking too much, because my blood sugar seems to get low quite often. So I need to monitor my blood sugar with a glucose meter periodically, and let him know how things are going.

How are things going for everyone else?

God Bless,
Carrie

Welcome Newbies!!!

Whitebird ~ Children are definately a gift, all life is. You are not being selfish or greedy by wanting more at all! I have four girls and am hoping we can sneak one or two more in before I will most likely just be done having babies. Children are a joy, even when things are tough. Definately pray about it and just ignore those other people.

Stephanie ~ I am a convert myself, it is such an amazing journey! I was in Jr. High the first time I really wanted to look into becoming Catholic, but was told I had to be born one to be one, so it wasn't until after I was in my twenties that I started looking into it more and realized I was misinformed. LOL It sometimes gets hard as I was married before I converted, so my DH isn't Catholic and without a man to lead things it gets tiring to be the "head" when it comes to faith - also hard to keep my DC on task when it comes to their religion, although Dh is good about supporting. I can't imagine not being Catholic, I wish I had had my faith growing up, it would have saved me much heartache! Good luck on your journey!

Hi, Ladies!

Gee, it's been quiet in here lately! I'm curious to know everyone's thoughts on the Holy Father's visit to the US. Please share your thoughts!

God Bless,
Carrie

Hey Singing Diva! I haven't heard much on his visit as we don't have TV and I don't tend to have the radio on, but how are you? I am craving some adult interaction these days. LOL Started on my workouts again, still working on getting my eating habits back in order. I ate whatever I wanted while I was pg, but now it is time to behave. *sigh* I have lost 5 lbs since my Dr. visit, hoping I can keep that going - I am still over what I was when I got pg. BLAH! Hard to see that when I worked so hard to get where I was, kwim?

Well, hope everyone else is going well!

By the way, Tam, you can watch any of EWTN's programming on their website: www.ewtn.com.

Ok, it's been forever since I browsed this thread. But today, I just (finally) got a letter back from the Pope Paul VI Institute, and they want me to make an appointment out there. (I've been charting and everything since January.)

So, I got to wondering, is there anyone else here who has used Dr. Hilgers? Especially someone who had to travel quite a ways to get there? (I'm in Vermont!!) I have no idea what to expect!! (Heck, I'm just trying to figure out when I could schedule such a big trip....what with school and all.)

But just getting a letter like that.....full of big long words that end in "oscopy"......eeeeek!! Sounds a bit intimidating!!

Hi again, I recently changed doctors b/c my old doctor wouldn't return my phonecalls. I was having a period that lasted 18 days

Needless to say I wasn't happy. She was the first to figure out what was wrong with me and I will be forever grateful, but many of my friends have been telling me she doesn't really listen/return calls, and pushes my way or the high way when it comes to meds.

So I found a Catholic doctor almost an hour from my home. I got there and the receptionist was so rude to me I almost left, but I'm really glad I didn't
because the nurse was one of the nicest nurses I've ever met, she actually didn't broadcast my situation for everyone to hear which was really nice, I told her I couldn't look at the scale b/c I might cry (LOL), and she asked me all kinds of stuff my other doctor never bothered to ask.

Then the doctor came in and gave me 4 options... I didn't even know I had options. We decided to try natural progesterone (to help my periods become regular), increase my metformin from 1,000 mg a day to 1,500. He actually made a follow up appointment (my old doc never made one in almost a year).

Overall I really felt like he cared which was a really nice feeling. I will be going back to see him for a long time I think. The best part… I lost 10 pounds in a little over a month! I had no idea it was that much, it was a really good day, in fact I don’t think I’ve ever left a doctors office that happy.

Tradertif ~ Your avatar makes me laugh, I had a pony JUST like that one growing up! I hope everything goes well for you!

Carrie ~ Thank you for that link! I hope I can watch it, we have slow dial up, so there are a lot of video files we can't watch - it takes 3min to download each 3 sec. !!! LOL Were your parents okay with you getting baptized? It has been awhile since we have all talked about how we converted, etc. so refresh my memory.
