Me too. I had an epiphany (after lots of other in-depth religious involvement) actually on Jan 1, 2001 and went back shortly after. Funny, after that my godfather told me that supposedly the new millineum belongs to the Church? Hm, anyway...dh went through RCIA twice (bad experience first time) and became RC in 2003.

We consider ourselves pretty faithful Catholics and have definitely felt that in deciding how to address fertility issues. Ultimately we decided to only treat symptoms and if that led to pregnancy, great, if not, adoption. We've adopted once and had two successful pregnancies (both directly due to symptomatic treatement). I've even read that clomid can actually create a hostile environment in the womb with some women, rarely, increasing the likelihood of fertilization but then spontaneous m/c. My body is SO weird I figured I'd be the 1 in a million so we didn't even go there, it made me nervous.

Sometimes I do feel like my faith is being tested with everything that happens. I was shocked to find myself pregnant again a couple of months ago for no apparent reason, but m/c soon after. But then I'm glad I have my faith because I really wonder where I'd be without it.

Whitebird, I'm a rarely-seen here lady, but I'll echo the rest of the ladies--children are a wonderful blessing. Now, frankly, I don't know about any of *YOU*, but I wouldn't turn down good health for myself and my dc, a good paying job for DH, a loving family, etc, if God offered it--those are all blessings too. So why would I be willing to accept all of those, and when He offers me another dc, say, "UGH! No thanks, Lord!"...

Is it greedy? Well, its not like you want to reach into someone else's womb and take THEIR baby, is it? Seriously. Greed would imply that you wanted all of the babies in the world and no one else could have one but you. Sorry. I get snippy about things like that. People have no sense of reality.

I have five (the twin part was a bit of a surprise, at 21 wks...lol), but I would gladly take more. I've ovulated a whopping 8-10 times (maybe) over the last ten years. Seriously. And I've managed (grace of God, believe me) to conceive four times. And I'm ready and willing for more, should He send them. Does that make ME selfish?

I don't post much in the rest of the forums. It seems to be a touchy subject, when people see my sig line...and I didn't even get dx'd til a month before I conceived the boys. I had all of the symptoms and none of the dx. LOL.

I've not ovulated--or had a period of any kind--since I had the boys almost a year ago. I tried to jumpstart my cycle with progesterone--to at least get a bleed. But nothing. I'm dreading it, cause being retired military makes insurance touchy, and DHs civilian job insurance won't cover me til August!

I got a dressing down by a friend, cause I told her about the NPC and blah blah blah....I don't even know what type of insurance DH signed us up for, so I don't know how much our copay would be, IF he paid the annual fee, etc.

ARGGGHHHH!

Sorry about that spiel. ANyway, I converted, DH was a cradle Catholic (poorly catechized). But things are much better now...

Rachel

okay, aside from my post to whitebird...lol

We're in OK. I've not had a period/ovulated YET. I used NPC for two weeks, and didn't even get a breakthrough bleed after stopping it (at least, I stopped using it Tuesday night, and now its Friday, and I still don't have it. UGH.

DH is working at his civilian job. We've got (currently) 25 chicks, 3 ducklings, 3 goslings, and two turkey poults in our wood room getting big enough to be able to be outdoors all of the time. 3 of the chicks are older and are able to be out during the day, so they are outside right now, eating grass, etc. LOL...

I'm very frustrated with my body right now. I don't know whether any of the dr's around here will take my military retiree insurance, what plan DH put us under, OR if any of the dr's who take the retiree insurance will also take DHs civilian work's insurance plan (but I am not covered til Aug 1). So now I have to see if I can find a decent RE in the area...or at least a knowledgable OB/GYN.

Please pray for me...

Rachel

Hi, Ladies,

I'm looking for some support. I think I may be experiencing a very early miscarriage. I never took a pregnancy test, but my period was at least a week late (it's always on time), and I've been cramping for four days. I started bleeding today, and was in so much pain that I had to lie down after coming home from church.

I really felt like I was pregnant, and was really hoping I was--especially with Mother's Day just a week away. I was in tears earlier today because of the disappointment. My husband is so sweet and supportive. I'm so frustrated--WHEN IS IT GOING TO BE MY TURN?!?!?!?!

I'm e-mailing my doctor right now, to let him know what's going on. I think I need to be examined this week, just to make sure that there wasn't a miscarriage. This period is DEFINITELY not normal!

Carrie

Carrie-I just experienced an early miscarriage as well. Actually, I tested on a whim and it was positive. I told DH when he got home from work...felt kind of funny and crampy, went to the bathroom and was spotting. I tested again 3 days later and got a BFN. It's been hard for me and we weren't even trying...I can only imagine what you're going through. I hope and pray it's just a crazy start to a pregnancy for you though!

We're using NFP as "contraceptive." If any of you decide to start preventing for whatever reason...I TRULY suggest it. Granted I got pregnant, but that was due to us "slipping" once, I think. It's really bringing us closer as a couple because he's asking about my fertility signs, and when I am nearing ovulation we're finding other ways to connect, which our marriage really needs lately. We're talking more and having a lot more fun...just like when we were dating

Default This is TMI, and kind of graphic

Well, I posted too soon last night. Apparently, that breakthrough bleed took a bit longer to get started...but it made up for it today. DH kindly let me take a nap this morning (there was NO way I could go to Mass), and I fell asleep on the bed (fortunately, I had put down one of the dc's waterproof mattress pads--crib sized--under me)...well, it looked like I'd killed a chicken. Seriously. I woke up, felt that awful feeling (I had blood running up my back, ugh), and made it to the bathroom when blood started going everywhere. I couldn't call DH to help--he was outside with the dc at the other end of the house...it was awful.

I missed Mass again this weekend, only this time, I was the cause of it, not DH. I had to change "things" every 15 minutes--and I had doubled up. There was no way at all I could go to Mass like that--even in black! I needed to go to Confession yesterday. Couldn't go because of family being here from out of town. They left late enough I couldn't get to Mass, much less confession!

I'm exhausted and drained (literally and figuratively). I hope that this will help me get re-regulated. I'm planning on trying to start up the NPC again in a little over 2 weeks, so I can get the old body associating things the way that they SHOULD be....sigh.

Brooke, I don't want to be nitpicky, but could you use another term for the way you are using NFP? Unfortunately, alot of people simply think of NFP as "Catholic Contraception", when in fact it should only be used for serious reasons...

Its easy to abuse the gift of our bodies (not saying you are--too many people do it without a second thought, though, which is really frustrating) by continually using NFP without monthly (cyclically) discussing and prayerfully discerning whether they still need to be using NFP to avoid conception.

Most ladies I know who are trying to avoid conception, simply say that they are TTA, as opposed to TTC (trying to conceive)...since we are leaving ourselves open to the fact that God can spring one on us sometimes ;-) As Catholics, we know we need to be prepared to accept whatever God sends our way--whether it be a child, or not (I know so many ladies who would give their right arm to be pregnant, PCOS dx or no)...and it is such a struggle...

Just thought I'd ask about that, cause I would hate for someone reading this thread to get the wrong idea about NFP, Catholics, and how we are supposed to use it/look at it....

That's why I had it in quotations because at the moment I couldn't think of another word and was typing with Miles on my lap...sorry! We are TTA...but like I said we already had a surprise (followed by disappointment). Our "plan" is to TTA until September, then stop NFP but not TTC. If we don't get pregnant by that following summer I'll go back on met. But God has plans of his own and we'd be happy with however things worked out.

BTW, sorry AF is being so bad for you!

Hi Everyone,
I know that I am joining this forum a little late but here is my story.

I am a convert. My dh and I got married in Oct of 2006 (he is a cradle Catholic). I had made the descion to convert RIGHT before our wedding. So in Oct of 2007 I started to attend the RCIA classes to become Catholic. My dh went with me to every class and was very supportive in my descion. He was my sponser. I think that our marriage and my faith is so much stronger now that we can both attend church together and be happy.

Thanks for this Forum,
Rachael

Ugh--can someone knowledgable go over to the Christian Polygamy thread? It kind of got off on a tangent about Catholicism, the priesthood, and biblical origins for the doctrines/disciplines of the Church and while I'm holding my own, some "backup" would be good...

Hi, I'm a newbie. Cradle Catholic from Vermont.

I was diagnosed with PCOS almost a year ago, and I've been on BCP since. I'm getting married in August, and was interested in hearing more about NFP after Pre-Cana. I'm currently feeling frustrated because much of the NFP information I've found doesn't mention PCOS and the PCOS information doesn't mention NFP.

I'm in contact with a NFP teacher, I guess you call them, and I'm just wanting to do as much research as I can. When I was first diagnosed, I was in shock for a while, so I didn't really do any research or ask many questions. Now that I will soon be in a position to possibly conceive, I'd like to have more say.

Can you lovely ladies recommend any websites or pages or literature I can check out? Am I in the right place?
