My Mood: Points: 1,529.89 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,529.89 | You guys are funny. You're probably just like me. You observe the world - culture, society, home life - and just don't understand why people DON'T GET IT. The Church isn't old fashioned, prudish or backward. To the contrary, Church teaching has been prophetic and very modern. So get everything off your chest here while you can!
A little update on me: I'm taking a hip-hop dance class!! Weird, I know. And I'm not the only white girl in the class, but I definitely look kind of like a stupid white girl doing some of the moves. But it's fun and I worked up a sweat. I'm taking it through a city rec and ed department so we have quite the conglomeration of people involved, all women from 16-53! I'm glad I'm not "feeling it" too badly today after yesterday's first class...
No men in my life. grrr... But there might be a guy in my roommate's life which I'm rather excited about. She doesn't even know I know, but I do.... I pick up a lot more subtle clues then people realize.
ok, gotta get back to work. (Which still isn't wonderful)

Points: 6,527.72 Bank: 148,894.64 Total Points: 155,422.36 | LOL. I have this image of a straightlaced Catholic girl, going to a hip hop class with a grandma.
Somehow, it just doesn't 'jive' for me. Wonder why? LOL
But yes, Kara...the Church is so "with it" we're "out of it" (thank goodness!).
On another board I am on, a woman posted about a dilemma a Catholic friend was having...the friend had a horrible delivery. The drs are now concerned about her kidneys. They want her to have a tubal, no more dc, etc. The couple was using NFP, but have had difficulties using it (weird cycles, which we Cysters know something about, don't we?). The family's priest came to visit them, and told them that they could do nothing permanent (they didn't ask him, but he told them). The ladies on this other board are predominantly Christian, but protesters. So alot of them don't get it. The Catholics on that board (not me, others have said what I would have, and done a better job of it) are doing an ok job. But I just want to slap some of these protesters...it's not that the priest said 'no abc, no sterilization'..its that he did it while they were in the hospital, apparently without being asked about it.
My thoughts are this. This priest has probably seen more than one couple be pressured by the medical establishment into having tubals...in situations similar to this. He was probably heading things off at the pass, if you ask me. But the DH in the couple is apparently very upset, and is "doubting his faith" because of this (the friend who posted this on the board, is not Catholic, as a matter of fact, her DH is a protester minister of some sort)....I want to say something, but what? Things like this are reasons I leave boards like this one...altho this is one of the few hsing only boards I am on. Its frustrating.
The priest has an obligation to make it clear to this family, EVEN IN THE MIDST OF THIS, that ABC is not an option. Several folks have said things like "well, she just had a csec, its not like they are going to be doing anything soon!"...well, there's no point in waiting til the scar has healed and she's been on abc, or had a tubal, or he's had a vasectomy, for months, before approaching them about it. SIGH. SOmetimes, priests don't have the best interpersonal skills....and their timing can appear to royally stink. But let's face it...they are still in the hospital, and the drs are still pressuring her to "do something" to prevent more dc.
Grrr. Why is always a "cure" for a problem, to avoid dc? Why is the first thing out of their mouth, "Get a tubal/vasectomy/go on abc"? Grrrr. The secular mindset is getting more and more foreign to me, in some respects. I've gotten to the point where I rarely watch any regular tv. I'm watching mostly things like DIY, HGTV, FOODTv, History Channel....even the weather channel! LOL. I don't like listening to the radio (I have XM satellite in the car, and cds in the house)....I don't get the paper, I read the news online....lol
Oh, just don't get me started on immodesty and modern secular opinions on dress/behavior!! GRRRR. I did some reading today that just made me ill. Makes me want to run screaming away from the world in general, and live shut up in the Church. Parked in front of the tabernacle. GRRRR.
Ok, deep breaths....
Rant over, folks.
Sorry about that--it's been a long day.
Rachel

Please excuse my rant, lol, it seems that every time I get really ranty about something, we get a whole herd of newbies here...just the "welcome" they ought to get!
Really, I am NOT a bear of any kind, and am, at least in my own not so biased opinion (lol), a fairly humorous person from time to time. But I do have a way of getting on a soapbox. Plus, I'm pregnant (about 1/2 way along now, whew) and am way hormonal. LOL
So please, bear with my rants, welcome to the thread, and hopefully, we'll all have a grand time on the roller coaster that is life with PCOS together...
Rachel

Rachel ~ Okay, so we think too much alike!
Kara ~ So, funny thing...when we were all first posting here I thought of you as african american. LOL I think it was because of your avatar, and that is usually how I remember people on here if they don't have an actual picture, so with your 'man' up there, that is just what popped into my head - then a few posts ago you mentioned your blonde hair and I went like, WHA?!?!? So your latest post on Hip Hop really put me on the floor. LOL And I mean laughing at myself mind you! Aaahhhhh, yes, can't judge a book by it's cover.

I remember I had Jerry Rice as my avatar. I thought he was great on Dancing with the Stars.... Someone told me he's a quarterback or something?
Actually if you click on my name and take a look at my public file, I have a pic of myself posted there. There's also one with my blonde hair here. Also, you can find a lot of pictures of me and my family at my blog.
Right now my hair is a bit less blonde, more light brown with blonde highlights and a couple copper ones thrown in for good measure.
Maybe I can video our final performance and host it somewhere on the web for you to all enjoy my hip-hopping adventure!
luv, Kara |

Rachel, don't worry about it! Your post didn't give me a bad impression of you! We all have our rants! Just as long as we rave, it's ok!
Carrie, I think we're in the same Diocese! I'm less than 2 hours from you, thru 2 major speed trap towns! LOL

My Mood: Points: 12,451.43 Bank: 0.03 Total Points: 12,451.46 | Sara--welcome to our wonderful, passionate group! I can vouch for Rachel...she's a fun person on here with a great sense of humor.
Tam--that's funny that you thought Kara was African American! At one point her avatar was a pic of her and her neice (and Kara's hair was brown in that pic, I believe) and I've seen her in other pics so I knew that she was white.
Kara--You're a brave soul to take a hip hop class. I can't walk and chew bubble gum without having a catastrophe. I'm a total klutz!!! LOL
Now...for MY rant...I'm so sick of parents who judge other parents. I'm tired of hearing about parents who don't discipline their kids and how these other parents would do things differently and their kids would NEVER behave like that. BULL DINKIES! Every kid misbehaves and every parent screws up. 'Nuff said. And, some of us have special needs kids who throw tantrums and such. Our kids have no signs around their necks in public (thank you Monika for that comment ) so no one knows about their needs. If we were to swat them for misbehaving then the other parents would be claiming that we're horrible for doing such a thing to a special needs child. GRRRRRRRRR! I'm sick of it! Rotten, holier-than-thou people!
Ok, rant over.
And, for the record, I know that half of my posts make NO grammatical sense whatsoever... please forgive me. I'm really smart but sometimes I can't type things the way they need to be said.

LOL It was just what was pictured so it was what stuck in my head. LOL I would love to see you dance, I am hoping to be in my DD's recital at the end of the year with at least one of my dance mates (I have been taking clogging with a bunch of other women). It would be a blast to be on stage again!
Carrie ~ HI!
Stacie ~ LOL I had only seen Kara's Jerry Rice avatar, so it was really funny when I found out otherwise!!! Hehe Go ahead and rant, it sounds like you have a lot to get off of your chest.
Well, must get #2 out of #3's crib once again (I think 5th time today?). *sigh* Everyone take care!

My Mood: Points: 31,388.84 Bank: 131,038.22 Total Points: 162,427.06 | Hi. Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Had some things come up and was away. Actually my father passed away last Thursday. I was wondering if any of you might have suggestions on books to read regarding dealing with grief and loss. Everyone keeps telling me all the emotions I am feeling are normal, but since his death was unexpected, I am having anger issues. I'm not letting it out, but whenever I'm alone I don't know how to deal with everything going on inside of me. I want to scream, I want to cry, I even just want to start swinging at everything in anger. I haven't told anyone about feeling angry. They all know I am sad, confused, but I can't even explain to my DH everything that's going on in my head. When I start thinking about it I start shivering, which my mom noticed and is worried I might have an anxiety attack. Sorry to vent, but all my family is going through a rough time too and I don't want to burden them with my problems.
