Yeah that liquid stuff you are taking doesnt sound right I guess I like food so I dont know if i could give it up completely! I really liked the gi diet, i started to eat 5-6 small meals instead of three big ones too, i think that really helps your metabolisim. I went to Klein...haha thats so crazy what year did you graduate? I graduated in 03...I even dated a guy from Cy-Creek. Do you still live in the cypress area? I live in Spring, off spring cypress and still go to mass at prince of peace. I grew up going to Christ the Good Shepard though so did dh but we decided to change and get married at POP! Wow so crazy you could pick the church out from the window!!! HAHA!

I graduated in '03 also. I live in Champions Park North (I still live with my mom). Do you know where that is? Its near the County Line on Cutten Rd. My brother grew up with a girl who went to Christ the Good Shepherd, but now they go to Prince of Peace too. When I first decided to become Catholic I went to St. Ignatius (its like 3 minutes closer) but they had RCIA on Mondays and I couldn't go then, so I went to Prince of Peace and I'm so glad I did! I really like it...even my mom likes to go sometimes and she's not Catholic (she loves Father John!). Anyway, yeah I've been trying to eat something every 2-3 hours, but how much do you have to eat for it to count? Sometimes I'm in a hurry and I don't have time to eat hardly anything but I just try to get something in my system. I've already been doing sort of what you said (no soda/no sweets/mostly whole grains) and I've lost a couple of pounds in the last couple of days (since I quit that other diet). I've been dropping weight really quick, and I'm wondering when its going to slow down :-s...but for now I'll just enjoy it .
I love Father John too! He did our wedding and was so funny! WOW small world! Yeah I know where you live! I live in north spring now, I used to live in Wimbledon Estates growing up, just across from Klein. I always ate like a hand full of nuts and a low fat string cheese or something along those lines in my snack, it doesnt have to be a lot it just has to be healthy! Glad you are loosing weight...thats awesome! Well good luck with it! What mass do you normally go to at POP, we go to the 5 pm Sunday mass.

Hey! Yeah...this weekend was kind of bad for the weight loss...my mom had a little get together and I helped get food ready...party food can be a real killer. I'm back on track now though. I think I'm going to get ahold of a low GI book just to have a little more information to make decisions with. I have a friend who that did it for awhile, although I can't imagine why as she weighs about 110 pounds. She's really into health and at times has gone to homeopathic doctors so maybe its something unrelated to weight loss. Anyway, I like to go to the 5pm Sunday Mass too, but if my brother's in town I try to go in the morning while he's sleeping, or sometimes my mom likes to go with me in the morning (by the afternoon she's either working or relaxing). I'm thinking about going on the Young Adult trip to Italy, but I'm nervous because I don't know anyone who's going. I think I need to decide this week, so I guess I will.
Oh you should go...that would be so much fun! I know the two guys running it...Matt and Dave they are really nice and great guys...I love their wifes too but they aren't going. I cannot do that because I dont have enough vacation and now will be way to pregnant. GL with the diet, you can find good GI books at the store, this is the one that I love this one: Amazon I have two of these books its great because they give you red, yellow, and green light foods in this nice huge list so you can just take the book to the grocery store to know what you should buy!

Yes i am seeing Dr. Dixon from Saint Louis and he is the only Napro Dr. in the area. I am praying that all this works for us because it has been a long journey. Congrats on your BFP.

Welcome kmv! Having a baby seems so complicated. I've always been afraid I wouldn't be able to conceive, but it seems that when the time comes, I'll be able to get some good advice from the girls here. Isn't it awesome to meet so many women with PCOS who have been successful? Good luck trying to conceive!
Anselmi - I read your post yesterday but I didn't get a chance to respond. I'm still on the fence about the trip...my dad was going to pay for it as a graduation present, but now he's being kinda weird about it, so I'm still not sure. I bought the GI diet book, but haven't quite started yet. Were you able to not eat ketchup? That's a tough one! I think I might try to make my own with no sugar. Did you use the recipes? I've just sort of flipped through them, but want to have a better look. I played hooky from school today, so hopefully I'll have a chance. The only thing I didn't really like was the use of artificial sweeteners in some of the recipes, because I always read pretty iffy things about them. I suppose I can just make my own modifications. Anyway, I'm pretty excited about it!
texasgirl- i tried to follow the diet to some extent but wasnt completely strict with it. I still ate ketchup and stuff. If you want to cut out the sugar completely Krogers and HEB have diabetic sections with diabetic ketchup, salad dressing...it wasnt very good though and i thought as long as i changed my eating habits in other places having some of that stuff would be ok. Also yeah i dont like the artifical sweetener thing either, especially when we were TTC becaue you are not supposed to have a lot of that when your pg. I think i just added some regular sugar to it instead and cut the amount in half, it may take a little while to get used to some of it but good luck! And try to have some fun with it too, that makes the whole process a lot easier!

Hey Katie girl! I'm pretty new here, but as far as I know there's no new thread :-s. Welcome! I haven't been very good about posting lately, but it is really helpful to have so many places to turn to on this site, and especially this thread.
I've been meaning to post a message on here about prayer. I had mentioned that I sometimes struggle with prayer myself, being a fairly new Christian, and I remember that a lot of the girls on here had said they had similar problems. I wanted to share with everyone an awesome book that I came across that I'm sure some of you already know about, but I'll mention it anyway. Its called With Open Hands by Henri Nouwen, and its really helpful. What I love about reading anything by Henri Nouwen is that he talks about the struggles of living the faith in such an open and articulate way, and it shows that he really has done a lot of reflection and really knows himself and what his own struggles are. Its also really incredible for me that someone who has lived a large part of his life as a priest could still have some fundamental struggles that are so similar to my own. Anyway, the reason that I recommend this book in particular, is because I like the way that he begins by identifying some of the problems we face when we have trouble praying, like wanting to hold onto to all the pieces of ourselves so much that we are unable to open up to God, and the way many of us avoid silence at all costs, and then moves on to talk about positive ways that we can open ourselves up. Each chapter explains the topic in a succinct, but powerful way, and ends with a prayer, and a question for reflection. I originally tried reading the book sort of quickly, with about one chapter for day, and that was helpful and helped me think of prayer in new ways, and now I am trying to go through the book more slowly, spending a lot of time considering each individual topic and reflection question. Anyway, I just wanted to throw that out there for those of you who are struggling in this way and would like to explore this tool. The book is tiny, by the way, so don't be intimidated if you're not really a reader (although I kind of am!). I hope all is going well with all of you, and God bless!
