Default celebrities with pcos?

Do you know of any known women who have pcos??
I know of Victoria beckham, emma thomson and jools oliver. Maybe Alyssa Milano and jane seymour??

I wonder if they follow a strict diet too ...

I was shocked to read V. Beckham has it. All I see of her in the news lately is how sickly thin she's gotten after the birth of her last child. There was a pic of her in STAR (heh.... I know, not really newsworthy but...) in the pic her head looked two times too big for her body.

I've often wondered about celebs who might have it, and having soooo very much money at their disposal what medical treatment they get for their symptoms and whatnot.

It would be nice to have a celebrity voicing out about it. But I guess it is not as embarassing as saying oh by the way "Robin Williams has Herpes that he got when he cheated on his wife". Someday a celeb will be there to speak out. Too bad Oprah does not suffer from PCOS she would announce it and then have 1 day a week devoted to the topic LOL

Oh your Right. I wish Oprah would do something on this but i guess she has NO urge to do it. But you know if she had it then she would be running of to do a show about it. I have only talked to 1 person that knew what this was and i didnt have to explain it to them. true enough she just finished NP school. but still it was nice to be able to talk to someone in person.

I have found noone who knew what it was except my DR and endocrinologist. I am a nurse and have asked other nurses who look at me like I am making it up. My MIL is also a nurse who worked in a ob/gyn office and labor and delivery and she has no clue. My Twin sis has just been diagnosed because I was diagnosed and having the same symptoms she questioned her dr how come it never came up. His response "well since your twin has it, and your periods are irregular then maybe you do have it" she asked about Metformin which I was on at the time she was diagnosed, his response "well since that is what they put her on then I dont see where it could hurt" Its crazy something more has to be done to make it a little easier on us to talk about it with our families and friends.

No joke. I was at Planned Parenthood getting checked out because I had all the symptoms of my period but no blood. I told the woman I had PCOS, but I don't miss periods, and she had NO idea what it was. I couldn't help but thinking, "come on! You deal with women all day, and it's estimated that 1 in 10 of us has this...this should not be news!"

Jane seymour grandma was insulin resistant i read on this board, and she campaigns for information about insulin resistance. Alyssa milano is known for being a hairy girl...some rumor on the internet says she may have pcos..but nothing says she has for sure

I'd be willing to say that a few of the celebrities who've been open about their infertility issues probally suffered from PCOS but just didn't come out and give a reason!

The two sisters from the Dixie Chicks Martie and Emily BOTH had to undergo fertility treatments? How common is it that sisters would be infertile unless it was something hereditery like PCOS
Oscar-winner, Emma Thompson suffered a miscarriage in 1997 and was subsequently diagnosed with PCOS. She was able to have
a daughter, Gaia in 1999 at the age of 40. Later IVF attempts failed. She is happy with her daughter, but notes that "there are
thousands and thousands of women like me who can't have children." Recently, Emma and her husband adopted a teenager from
Rwanda.

Default Oprah

Is there a way of contacting Oprah and letting her know how many women are affected by PCOS? She often focuses on women's issues, so maybe if she was aware of it she would do a show about it. It wouldn't hurt to try if anyone knows how. I'll see what I can find out, like on her web site, but if anyone else has any ideas, it would be good to find out.

Wow, I emailed the PCOS suggestion on oprah's site just before reading this thread. So you mean to tell me, this has been suggested any numerous times and still to no avail? I would have thought she'd jump on this topic along with the other female problems, such as endometriosis. fibroids etc. Oh well Like you said unless it affects her she won't have a how on it.

I know there has been a bunch of threads about sending post cards to Oprah and Montel and other shows like that, telling them about PCOS and what we are trying to do... From what i have read Kat knows someone on the Oprah Show and has been on Oprah a few times and no luck on there either i just find it odd that woman wouldnt want to help other woman out.
