That is interesting about Victoria Beckham and Emma Thomson, I did not know that. I wish a celeb would speak out about it though. Oprah and Tyra really should discuss this on their shows!
I dont know if this is true or not but i remeber reading it a wee while ago. Victoria Beckaham used PCOS as an excuse for her losing so much weight. This was when she was scarily underweight. But as we all know PCOS can make you gain weight not lose weight to the point of starvation. I couldnt believe this when i first read it because she was trying to cover up her weight issues with PCOS and also because she was misinforming people about the signs of PCOS. Ever since i read this i have taken a big dislike to victoria beckham!!
I figured, if we flood their studios with it, it might work!! Remember, the squeaky wheel gets the turn!!! Below is what I wrote:
Hello,
My idea for the show was to discuss PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome). 1 in 10 women have it. It is often not diagnosed until years later, and if left untreated can cause serious medical problems. Women with PCOS are often insulin resistant as well, which can lead to Type 2 Diabetes. Women with PCOS have a higher risk of developing heart disease, endodmetrial cancer and having a stroke. This syndrome is unknown by many, and really needs to be put out there. I read somewhere that 5-10 percent of women have it...and half don't even know they have it. It is the most common hormonal problem among women and the leading cause of infertility. Symptoms include infertility, weight gain and the inability to lose (due to insulin resistance in most cases), acne, male pattern hair growth, scalp hair loss, multiple follicles on the ovaries, irregular or absent period, and others. See, when you go to the doctor, symptoms vary, and it's very hard to diagnose PCOS. It is also hard to treat it as you can only treat the symptoms individually, not PCOS as a whole. I really believe that this needs to be brought to every women's attention. I've had symptoms since I was 17 or 18, and I got more and more as I got older. I was just diagnosed last year at the age of 29. I also believe it had a part in my ectopic pregnancy. Please, this would be a show beneficial to women everywhere.

I read an article where she attributed losing weight to her getting pregnant. It wasn't that she lost so much weight because she had PCOS, but she lost it in order to get pregnant.
There was a tv show or documentary about the spice girls that I watched before I knew she had PCOS and it was showing them all eating breakfast and I think it was Geri said 'Vicky doesn't eat bread' and it showed Geri eating some white bread toast and Victoria was eating a massive salad. I thought at the time - urgh, how can she choose a salad over toast for breakfast - but now I understand that if she had the toast, she would probably feel as gluggy and tired as I used to when I was eating highly processed carbs all day long.

Kate Gosselin from Jon and Kate Plus 8 on TLC has PCOS. she obviously had fertility treatment lol. She states that is her condition that caused her not to ovualate in her book, Multiple Blessings. That is all she discusses
The woman who wrote the book (and which will now be a movie with M. Streep) "Julie & Julia" has PCOS. I read the book and she constantly talks about PCOS and the negative aspects and coping...I hope the movie will do the same thing. As a side note, the book started out as her blog about dealing with PCOS...which she did by cooking recipes from Julia Child's cookbook. Someone in the publishing world read it and decided it needed to be a book and now it is going to be a movie. They better not take the PCOS out of the movie!
louise rednap has pcos and she talked about it on tv about how it depressed her and how hard it was for her to conceive and how tough her life has been since she new she had it , also jamie olivers wife had it and has just managed to fall pregnant he spoke abut it on a show also,
Kate Gosslin from "Jon and Kate plus 8" has PCOS. I read her book and it talks about how she has PCOS and that's why she did IVF leading to her multiple children. And Jamiee Lee Curtis is a hermaphrodite, which means she has both male and female genitals so I doubt she has PCOS.

Get involved in animal rescue. You won't be sorry. Your heart may break, there may be times when your eyes are red-rimmed for days. You may lose faith in the goodness of people, but your spirit will be renewed by the resilience of those you save. It isn't easy, but it's worth it. I promise you, you will be forever changed.
I looked up the thing about Jamie Lee Curtis after someone told me that assertion recently - I have the impression that this assertion is very dubious . . .and it might be considered a form of libel or defamation, I guess depending on whether it is actually true or not . . .and if it is true it would be her person medical information really not very appropriate to speculate about especially given the nature of the assertion. In any case it is a very unkind thing to say about anyone who has not chosen to be open about having such a condition (would you like it if someone got confused about what PCOS was and started saying something like that about you?) . . plus Jamie Lee is cool!
