When I was 6-10 years old I love the spice girls I looked up to posh spice. And now finding out the she has PCOS, give me more of a push to lose weight, and makes me feel like I reall can lose the weight.
Thank you for posting this interesting article. It is too bad that more celebrities with PCOS don't come forward. It would help spread the 'word' about PCOS!
Many are probably suffering from eating disorders to mask their symptoms!

I agree that infertility should not be the primary reason that people seek to treat PCOS. Not having your period is not a good thing, though some may think it is - the blood is still in there, and it has impurities in it that can cause problems in themselves. Furthermore, being unable to lose weight, excess hair, and so many other symptoms - whether you are trying to have a baby or not, who wants to suffer with all the other symptoms associated with PCOS?? I have been working with nutrition and other natural means to get over PCOS for about a year, and have seen an improvement. Although natural methods take longer, they get to the root of the problem, rather than just dealing with the symptoms. I'm not in a rush to have a baby, but I'm trying to deal with this so there won't be a problem when I am ready.

I take issue with the phrase below the title that "worst of all, it may make you infertile." They could have written something different. Not that infertility isn't a terrible thing to deal with - I've had years of struggling with it myself. But, although they do discuss the other health implications further down in the article, I would have preferred to find the other health problems related to PCOS a little more front and center.
I guess it's a reflection of the fact that many women are only diagnosed when they aren't able to conceive naturally, so that is the top priority for those women. But, reading only the top part could make some women who might have PCOS decide not to read the article if they aren't having problems conceiving or don't want to. JMHO

I took a copy of this into work. A coworker of mine who is from Haiti explained her symptoms and told me the Dr said she will never have any children. She read the article and was almost in tears. She said that so many things in the article was her. She is now making an appointment and is carrying the article with her.

Thanks for sharing the article. While reading I kept thinking that it must be even more frustrating for people who don't show all the symptoms to be diagnosed correctly.
I a way I agree that it would be great if more celebs came forward acknowledging if they had PCOS, but then on the other hand if it became "popular", can you imagine the comments we would get approaching a doctor saying we thought we had PCOS. Maybe I'm just really sceptical as far as doctors diagnosis are concerned.
Thanks for the article! I agree, I wish a celeb would come forward with it so that it gets highly recognized. I'm tired of explaining to doctors that I am taking Met for PCOS not diabetes...

I had that same problem in ER. They don't know anything at all about PCOS..... and yet when I go in there for pain that's what they automatically assume is wrong!

Thanks for the article, very interesting. I would like to find the Posh's doctor.
Because she seems to be ok
If only a doctor would do everything....It is not because Posh is ok that her doctor would make all of us ok...remember there are different degrees of PCOS....some are ok with just the birth control pill, some need a little bit of anti androgen some need more anti androgene and and anti androgene wont be ok for others because of secondary effects or something... I think i read somewhere that Posh also agreed to change her diet to become pregnant, i guess that's why she became really skinny, she was fine before when she certainly ate a lot of cookies and candy, and i suppose she shifted to eat more veggie and fruits and lost weight. i dont think she's anorexic like most people say i just think she found out that a healthy diet could help and since she did not have a weight problem originally, expet a few curves that were really nice..the weight loss really show....i started to change my eating habit i cut down on carbohydrate and sugar...and i lost three kilos, i try to eat more though other wise i would be too skinny too but i found out i have more energy this way.i cant give up my cereals though..i found a muesli with no sugar.
