Heres an idea, what celebs do YOU THINK have PCOS?? lol
I'd like to add that lately I have suspected Carrie Underwood to have PCOS. I have been a fan of hers since American Idol and like to read up on what she has been up to on a regular basis. I remember a few years back, it had to be right after she won in 2005, high quality pictures leaked from a photo shoot she did. Back then, I had noticed that she had quite a bit of hair on her face, although blonde, and some were even noticeably longer than the others, but thought nothing of it. I had no idea what PCOS was back then, let alone that I suffered from it. It just made me feel good to know that I was not the only woman to have problem with excess body/ facial hair. Does anyone know what the deal is with blonde women and PCOS? I am a very dark brunette, so naturally my hair is dark. I know blonde women can definitely have darker hair grow in, but is it normal for blonde hair to grow in for blonde women with PCOS as well? Because that is the case with Carrie. I also noticed, from the same pictures, that she also had quite a bit of hair on her chest region, which had been exposed because of a low top, v-neck shirt she wore in the photos. Fast forward to about a year ago and Just Jared (a gossip blog) posted some more high quality photos of Carrie. People made nasty comments about her "hairy" arms that are covered in dark hair. Seeing her arms made me feel empowered though. You rock on with those hairy arms, Carrie Underwood! Again, I thought nothing of it. But then, just this past week, I saw new high quality photos of Carrie and she seemed to have quite the considerable amount of hair on her face. She also has sideburns from time to time, but seems to try and hide them. The back of her neck is hairy, when she was heavier all of her weight seemed to be centered around her waist, and her hair seems to have thinned (naturally). I realize she wears extensions, but her part seems wider than it used to be, and she seems to be changing her hair to cater to it. I am going to have to gather pictures and post them, but I am too tired tonight.
The article says that perhaps ONE IN FIVE women in the UK have pcos. These numbers are a bit different from the '5-at most10%' of women that we hear in pamphlets and from Docs in the US.

Interesting...
I asked my doctor about the variance in the numbers because I've heard both too. She said because PCOS is a sydrome and women have such a variety of symptoms and not all at the same time or to the same degree its hard to pinpoint such an exact figure.

Celebs who i think have PCOS are: Roseanne Barr (Bad Skin, Over weight, Buffalo Hump). I've been watching old re-runs of Roseanne recently and it struck me how "PCOSy" she actually looks. Also, Supernanny, Jo Frost, for exactly the same reasons.

REMOVING A CYST DOES NOT MEAN THAT YOU HAVE POLYCYSTIC OVARIES. I HAVE HAD FRIENDS THAT HAVE HAD A CYST ON THEIR OVARIES AND HAD IT REMOVED. tHERES A BIG DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO.

Thank you for posting this interesting article. It is too bad that more celebrities with PCOS don't come forward. It would help people become more aware of pcos!
