I been trying to figure out my cervical mucus for quite some time now, but am really confused. My cm may be watery in the morning, but creamy in the afternoon and then sticky the next day. It doesn't seem to follow the typical sticky, creamy, watery, eggwhite pattern. My cycles are long and I'm wondering if that has something to do with it. Any tips for trying to figure this out?
I understand completely what you are saying. I have long cycles too - based on temping I've seen O 2x late - like between CD 42-49, but I haven't noticed any real change in CM. Maybe I just don't know how to distinguish between the different types? :::so frustrating:::

I can't figure it out either. I gave up using it as a sign. It's especially hard for me to tell the difference when DH and I are BDing all the time. I figure I've gotten pretty good at temping, I'll just stick with that for now.

I recently read online that CM which seems to change frequently can indicate an anovulatory cycle. I will see if I can find the link to post on this thread. I use CM and cervical position to tell my O. Since regaining my cycle 1 1/2 years ago, it was averaging 45-50 days with O occuring around 30 days. My personal experience is when I have a lot of CP shifts and CM changes, there was no O during the cycle.
I do not temp because I do not have a steady sleep pattern, so my temps are all over the place.

Organic, do you know for sure if you are ovulating or not??
I agree with PP, it makes sense that CM may only be textbook if it's analyzed during an ovulatory cycle.
But with having said that, I have ovulated a few times in the last few months and I have ONLY ever gotten creamy CM. Watery once, but that was when I was on injects and had an HCG to trigger ovulation. And it was borderline creamy/watery!!

Below are two articles with some helpful information. The second one has a section on improving CM for fertility. I have also read someplace that drinking grapefruit juice during the first half of your cycle will help improve and create EWCM.

I know I am ovulating because I do have a definite temperature shift every cycle and then it lowers back to my baseline on the first day of AF (except one cycle in the past 2 years since I've started charting). I think I need to start paying closer attention to CM and become more familiar with it. Thanks for all the info everyone. It's kept me interested in deciphering this!
