I was camping this summer and breaking out....I was ovalating at the time. I can tell by my breakouts. A met a girl who told me about this acne cure and I would love to share it with you.
Penaten - aka diaper rash cream.
The active ingredient - Zinc Oxide
You will notice it healing by the next day. You can apply at any stage of your zit. When you have a underground bump, a white head or one that you just squeezed.
I asked my doctor why it works, and she said that zinc is a natural skin healer.
At the back of the tin it says the following....
Penaten cream - used for decades successfully for the treatment of diaper rash, sunburn, scalds, dermatitis and relief of itching due to eczema: relieves rash caused by heat and perspiration.
Yes it does work as long as you alternate with Zinc Oxide then a moisturizer because it does dry out your skin. I use Scar Zone, it has zinc oxide in it with other things and works pretty good.
I've always kept Penaten cream in the house because when I have severely dry skin, or my eczema flares up it helps. I've never thought about trying it on my acne! Will have to test it out!

This was just suggested in a thread where I was asking about what to do for breakouts!! I keep forgetting to buy the cream though! So I'll ask so maybe I won't forget again- whereabouts is it usually at in the market- the baby aisle, or where?

Wow! Something that actually works? OMG, I must know where to find it...I've been doing the toothpaste method and have had very very little results....and I'm currently unemployed and in college so I need something effective and cost-efficient.
Please don't use toothpaste for your acne. It is a wives tale that it works. The best thing toothpaste is used for besides oral hygiene is using actual paste to fill small nail holes in walls (like spackle).

msdjbrooks....here is what I use for skin care that has helped me out. I have a mixed skin type. Oily over the T zone.
I use Aveeno - Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser - with Salicylic Acid for Acne-Prone Skin for a daily wash. It's made with Soy
I use Aveeno the same brand for a daily moisterizer. Aveeno Clear Complexion with Salicylic Acid and Soy for Acne-Prone Skin. (I live in a dry climate, and it mosterizes really well)
For a foundation...I have to use a non oil foundation. The current one that I like that has nice coverage is Redearth. Here is the website for store finder. http://www.redearth.com/redearth/store_finder.jsp
I did the Penaten cream for a little bit. It seemed to work really well at first, but I think after a while it started making my acne worse.
Right now I'm using 3 drops of tea tree oil mixed with a little bit of aloe vera gel (about the size of a penny). It seems to be working okay so far. It hasn't done much for the redness, but it does dry them out quickly. I've only been using it for less than a week, so I'll let you know if it turns disasterous.
Thanks Girlieincalgary! I will give this a try as well!!!
