Default Chemical pg. When did AF come?

Well, I think I have probably had a 'chemical pregnancy'. I had a surprise BFP yesterday (not really trying to get pg, needed clomid to conceive DS after 13 months). I was just starting to get excited but thought I would do another test today and it was a BFN! I have been trying to kid myself there was something wrong with the second test but I am sure that is wishful thinking.

I was just wondering when to expect AF so that I can make a fresh start and not be in limbo.

Thanks ladies

Hi Brit. I'm sorry about the BFN. Do you think that maybe todays was just less sensitive than yesterdays? Did you use FMU? I hope that the BFN was just a fluke thing.

I have had three chemical pregnancies this year. With the first two it was a little over a week before AF showed up, but with this latest one AF showed up the same day that I got my BFP. Either way it's hard. (((((hugs)))))

Everyone is so different around here... If you are indeed miscarrying, which we hope you're not, it could be a while. On the other hand, many of us, myself included, had our first sign of an early loss come in the form of bright red.
I'm hoping very hard for you to have no problems!

Sheri, thanks for the advice and I'm sorry for your loss. I guess at least if this doesn't work out then I have not got my hopes up too much. I kind of wish I hadn't tested so early and then I would have assumed the late period was just my screwy cycles.

Flutterby. Three chemical pregnancies in one year. That's horrible. Do they have any idea why?
I didn't use FMU on the BFN test but then I didn't use it the day before either when I got the BFP. And if betas are meant to be doubling every 48 hours then I figured the test shouldn't really get lighter. I think I will test again today just to be sure, then at least I know. If AF hasn't come in a week I will see my doctor - don't know if there's anything she can do though. Give me something to bring on AF?

HPT's don't work like betas...ie: getting darker as hCG goes up. It's possible to be 16wks pg & get a negative test or a very faint test, it's also possible to get a negative test or a very dark line @ 6wks and still have a good pg. hCG also varies during the day so it could be different @ night vs in the AM, etc. As well as how much you drank that particular day & how long you waited to go to the bathroom. I wouldn't give up yet but I would call your dr. to get a beta so even if you do have a chemical pg, they will have a record of it. That's why any time someone says they get even a faint + test I tell them to call their drs so they have a record of it & so the woman can start getting care right away just in case.

Good Luck!
Traci

Angeleyes

Thanks for the advice. You sound very knowledgable. You must have learnt a lot with all you've been through. I am so sorry you had such a nightmare TTC journey. ((((hugs))).

Good luck with the adoption - the child who gets you sure is lucky!
