I have really, really bad chest hair. I ignored it at first, then it got so bad that I started to shave (there was too much to pluck, and it hurt). The hair got worse, natch. I also have some hair on my collarbone and shoulders, though not as bad and more pluckable. I hate it so much. Everyone else wears low-cut, cleavage baring shirts, and their skin is so smooth and flawless and hairless. I'm not usually one to compare myself to other girls, but that makes me feel so unfeminine and disgusting. I want laser, but I'm a high school student about to go away to college and I'm in no kind of position to pay for that.
There really is no point to this post, other than to whine :-P and see if anyone out there is in the same position and wants to commiserate.
I have chest hairs too. It seems that I have been getting more lately even though most of my bloodwork like testosterone has come back ok. It sucks because they are long thick black hairs. I like to wear V-neck shirts- others feel like they are choking sometimes, but I always feel worried that I may have missed a hair when plucking and that others will see it and think its gross. The fact is that most people probably wouldn't notice because they woudn't be fixated on your chest. There is a thread on this board about a new hair remover from Sephora called No!No! that seems promising. Some people on other sites have tried it and are very happy with it. It costs about $250 which still isn't cheap but is nowhere near what laser costs. I think the instructions say not to use it on your face, or breasts, but I think that it wouldn't be too bad on the chest. I've been thinking of buying it and giving it a shot. Good luck to you and don't worry- you're not alone on this one- many of us suffer with this sucky side effect of PCOS.

Mini Goal- 140- REACHED 7/28/08!!! New Mini Goal- 130! - REACHED 10/10/08!!! 27 years old- no meds- trying to get healthy through diet and exercise
I have chest hair too....Too much to pluck...Actually, I've never been able to pluck any area that had hair where it shouldnt be because it would take entirely too long....
I just shave mine...I still wear low cut shirts because I love cute clothes--I feel like dressing up is the only way I can be feminine...But I'm not comfrotable because I'm constantly worrying if people can notice the hair folicles
Thank you all so much for your responses- it helps immeasurably to know that I'm not alone with this really, really sucky symptom. Le sigh.
fairy2323, I've seen the No!No! on the Sephora website and have heard a few things about it on blogs. I'm thinking of giving it a shot, but I'd like to hear a little more about its long-term effectiveness as opposed to laser (if laser is better, then I'll save up and spring for that). When I came to check back on this thread, I noticed a discussion of it on the forum. I'll have to go check it out. =)
i too have the same problem.. i have this really cute shirt i bought so i went home and saved it for a night when i was going to go out with all my girlfriends..well come to find out.. it was way to low in the front so i thought well i'll just pull it back.. but when i did and looked in the mirror.. i forgot about the hair just below my neck.. right by my shoulders.. so i said F this and threw the shirt in the back of my closet. i know how you feel.. still being in HS and all.. PM me if you would like.

This is somewhat of a new symptom to me. I have fine light and dark blonde hair on my upper chest area. Totally stinks. I shave but you can see the hair follicles. Plus I am extremely pale so that doesn't help. Not sure if anybody else actually notices it. I am just hoping that it doesn't turn DARK and COARSE!

yeah i got unwanted hair too, but dont shave it , it will come back thicker ans more of it!!! try to use hair removal creams.(like facial creams they are alot more gentle) or waxing! but for your own good dont shave! i learned the hard way, on my belly witch is better then my chest cuz cant be seen, but still plz dont shave
I definitely don't agree with the shaving = more or coarse hair. I think waxing is more likely to do that especially on hormone induced hair. Sorry, but if your hair is getting thick or dark you should blame it on the hormones.

I felt the same way, KJC0330. I'm so glad I started this thread. It's really reassuring to know that other people have this (not that it's good that anyone has it, just that it's good to know that we're not alone in this).
AbovetheExtreme, I did the same thing when it got bad. I freaked and didn't think that shaving would make it worse, but now I'm pretty much stuck until I can get the money for a No!No!/laser treatment.
Nicky, I've always heard that shaving makes hair worse, but I have also heard that that's a myth. My doctor mentioned putting me on Yaz, so hopefully that'll help with the hair growth.
