Chewy Chocolate Chip cookies...YUM!! :p
This is one of the best recipes for a chewy, gooey chocolate chip cookie that I have ever found!
I got this off the back of a bag of "Guittard" brand chocolate chips, but have changed it a bit to make them even chewier (I will put my changes in parenthesis like this).
Enjoy! THE ORIGINAL CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE
(with KKat's adaptations!)
1 cup butter (I use one of those
butter flavor Crisco sticks...look for them by the Crisco shortening...they are easy to use and really make the cookie a nice texture and flavor)
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar(be sure to use FRESH sugar...I always use C&H brown sugar that comes in the plastic bags, it does make a difference)
1 tsp. vanilla (use REAL vanilla, it's worth the extra cost!)
2 eggs
2 and 1/4 cups unsifted white, all purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 pkg. (16 oz. or 2 cups)
Guittard chocolate chips (they really are a good brand...semi sweet, but I have used the milk chocolate, too...yum!)
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Cream together butter, white and brown sugars and vanilla (I use my Kitchenaid mixer).
Beat and add 2 eggs. In a separate bowl, mix dry ingredients and add gradually to wet. Stir in chips and nuts. (I find it easier to stir in the chips and nuts into the flour and then add it all together into the wet ingreds.)
Spray "Pam" type spray on cookie sheets, or grease them with shortening. Drop batter onto cookie sheets.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes at 375 degrees, (but watch carefully; don't let them bake too long, leave the centers so that they look almost raw. This will ensure they are chewy when they cool.)
Makes about 3 dozen, depending on size of cookie. (Probably makes a little less if you make them nice and big like in the bakeries!)
