Unhappy Chin/Neck Hair Removal

I was recently diagnosed with PCOS and have been busy finding as much information as possilbe. I finally landed here & love it so far!

I do have a silly question though. I have always tweezed the black coarse hairs on my chin and neck, but they seem to be getting out of control. I am curious as to what everyone else does to battle this problem. I have seen some posts on shaving, but do you just shave that small area.....my lower chin seems to be the worst. Thanks so much in advance for your help.

I pluck that area too. I am worried that if I try to shave it it will make the peach fuzz around that area stand out....and I am lucky not to have to shave the rest of my face (sideburns , lip, etc) right now. So I just continue to pluck. I use a prescription product called Vaniqa that reduces the growth on my neck and chin, so I don't have to pluck as often now.

I also pluck the hairs! I know it gets really tiresome, but I just can't bring myself to shave!

I make DH pluck mine under a bright light. He complains, but I make him do it anyway. I may try Surgicream.

I shave mine. It's fun to fight DH over the electric razor.
Sometimes I pluck too, just depends on my mood.

Welcome to Soul Cysters and if you need anything, feel free to PM me!

Hugs

I also pluck daily. Sometimes it takes 30 minutes or more to feel satisfied that I've got them all, and if heaven forbid I skip a day, watch out DH! I finally asked him for a lighted 5x mag. mirror so hopefully I can see them better. I tried shaving, (I also get a good mustache going on) but by the end of the day my lip felt VERY stubbly. I didn't like that at all, so now I wax my lip and pluck my neck/chin.

hi,

i remove my side/upper lip hairs through electrolysis. i found it be quite effective. last year, i tried it for a period of two months and had to go everyday. i stopped getting the treatments for about a year and started again this spring. i found the hairs improved somewhat. i get it removed every three to four weeks. they're growing back finer and less.

I also do electrolysis. Since I got met 2 months ago I finally am noticing a great decrease in regrowth. YiPPee!!

The esthetican says that plucking is the absolute worse thing you can do for facial hair. She says that it stimulates hair growth. I don't know if this is true or if she was trying to get me to do the more expensive treatment option. But I do know I have had PCOS for 10 years and I started with a dime sized spot under my chin and plucked and plucked and plucked and now (before electro) it was all over my chin, upper lip, and sideburns.

Being hairy sucks

I wax my chin and neck area. I use GiGi All Purpose Microwave Formula from Sally Beauty Supply.

If you search THIS site for GiGi, you will find MANY discussions where we talked about this brand, the pros and cons, etc. Some girls tried it after we discussed it on another thread as well.

I don't have time right now to go into it, but I LOVE the product and have been using it for about 8 years now (before I needed it on neck and chin LOL). My mother is a cosmatologist and really likes this product and recommends it as well.

I REALLY like it because it is easy, you use it in the microwave, you do not have to buy a warmer, and it doesn't hurt as bad as plucking each one I SWEAR!LOL!

I pluck chin, neck and cheek hairs although when I have the time will use creme remover although they really irritate my skin. My moustache I use DH's electric shaver...not to his knowledge though! He knows that I have a facial hair problem, but I would die before I'd ask him to pluck, shave or whatever else my facial hair...I'm embarrassed enough !

Well, my hubby bought me a Lady Remmington for Christmas. I think he decided he was tired of sharing!

The neck hair is the worst for me because it is the hardest to conceal. Right now you can wear turtlenecks, but that's about the best you can do. I find that even if I pluck, the skin is so thin and sensitive that I still walk around with no hair but with red bumps! I get electrolysis which has made the area a little lighter, but it's still there and I have been going for over a year. It's kind of disappointing. I am considering laser for just that area because like I said, at least the chest is covered by a shirt and the sideburns are lighter and can be bleached or covered with makeup. It's so frustrating. I recommend electro if you don't have a lot or it's not too coarse. It worked well on my chin. That hair is pretty much gone or blonde.

I shave mine daily. I just don't have the time or patience to pluck. And when I did that or any other type of hair removal, It'd still grow back within 3 days. I'd rather spend 2 minutes shaving daily. I just do it in the shower with my Venus razor and shave gel or Aveeno hypoallergenic bath soap. I only have to do my mustache once a week or so but the chin and neck must be done daily.

I use an Emjoi Gently Gold Hair Remover. It uses three disks and actually plucks the hair out. It is fantastic. It does hurt a little bit, but the more you use it, the less it hurts. I feel it is well worth the little bit of discomfort for a clear, smooth chin and upper lip. I would highly recommend this.

I absolutely love my Emjoi.
