Dh and I are thinking seriously about adopting from China. We originally wanted to do Guatemala, but the process there is so unstable and it is crazy expensive.
We really want a little girl and China is one of the few countries with more girls available than boys.
We are still investigating Korea and the Philippines, but we seem to be leaning more towards China.
I am working on getting dh ready to start things sooner than later b/c the wait for China is so long. Our youngest son is turning 2 in July. I really don't want a huge age gap. We've got a lot going on in our lives right now, so I'm not sure if dh is going to want to spend the time getting everything together for an adoption right now.
Does anyone have any advice? Or agency recommendations?
Harrah's AIM seems to be a good one, as does CCAI.
IAAP is a WONDERFUL agency. I've never had the pleasure of working with them, but I've seen what they've pulled off for others.
Children's House International has a great reputation as well.
Having just been there and done that, I'd recommend steering clear of Children's HOPE International's China program, especially if you think you may be interested in a waiting child.

Personally, I'd start now. You may be waiting a long time... We've been waiting for 17 months & still have a few months left. We've been logged in since 11/10/05.
I really like our agency, CAWLI www.cawli.org. You're in LA so you'd have to have a seperately homestudy agency since CAWLI isn't licensed to do HS's in your state (we had to do the same in TX).
Good Luck!

Maybe we should look into Vietnam, but I was under the impression that they have a lot of boys available and the wait for a girl could be quite long. Also a couple of agencies were only taking applicants wanting a child 4 years older or older.
