Thumbs up Chinese herbs are working!

I have been seeing a naturopath for 6 weeks because I didn't feel that the doctors were doing anything for me. She diagnosed me using TCM as having liver phlegm and gave me this mixture of herbs that she picked for me based on my specific symptoms. It's pills made of like 20 different herbs and each herb works on different symptoms -- I have fatigue, problems sleeping, genreal unwell feeling, probably adrenal exhaustion and high cortisol, slow-healing skin, acne, some facial hair. I didn't want any hormonal therapies because I had to get tests done by my endo, so no vitex, but I did take some flax seed, so that had some effect, I'm sure. But I just got my blood work back, and my cortisol went down, and my hormones were in normal range (I had extremely low estrogen before, even on BCP). I came off BCP nearly 2 months ago and no AF yet, so I'll have to see what happens over the next while, but I feel better, less anxiety, sleeping is easier, and I have more energy.

So, I think it's a combination of coming off BCP, plus the flax, plus the herbs. I was off the herbs for a week when I ran out and had to order more and I felt jumpier again, so I know they have a calming effect on my body. I also increased my protein which is helping with fatigue (better for me than just low carbing), and am starting Evening Primrose Oil to see if that will bring AF. Since I'm just off BCP, I'm basically trying to stop my PCOS symptoms from getting any worse, and then hopefully I'll start to see some improvements. I'm going back for more blood work in 3 months so I'll see if things get better or worse then, but I was just shocked that I'm "normal." I don't feel 100% yet, but I'm getting better! Hopefully I'll start working again soon.

Cool that's great!

wow, that's great -- I remember when I went off of BCP's what a great feeling it was -- it was like I got my body back!

just curious -- what herbs are you taking?

The herb combination I'm taking is called Clear the Palace by a company called Women's Treasure. It contains over 20 different herbs powdered and pressed into pills. What's amazing is that my naturopath found this formulation cause it seems like it was tailor made for me, since it addresses so many of my health problems and symptoms (not all PCOS stuff). It is not designed to regulate periods or help you ovulate, it's designed to clear "phlegm" from the liver and body, which then affects your overall health. I didn't know anything about TCM before and I was skeptical of it, but it's amazing how well this stuff works. The one "good" thing about PCOS is it makes my body extra sensitive to meds, so I can tell right away how I'm reacting to something, and my improvement on these herbs was pretty fast.

Smile Thanks Lil Eve!

Thanks for your reply! DH and I may have to take next month off of the RE anyhow, so if we do, I will take soy instead of Clomid. Can anyone tell me about how much they paid for the soy in the powder form (at Walmart)?
Thanks!!

Proudearth--

I don't think that my chinese herbs do anything for hair growth, but I have been taking flaxseed and I think that helps a bit. There was an article posted a while back in this forum that said that 30g of flaxseed (2 tablespoons) per day reduces androgens.
