    Default christmas epilators

hi, hope everyone had a lovley christmas.im so exited i got an epilator as one of my presents, did anyone else? how are you finding them? now, im scared to use it lol, anyone any tips etc, am i meant to moisturise before hand, do i put the epilator right to the skin or just to the actual hair, how many hairs are meant to come out at a time etc. my hubby went to a big superstore for mine and i got the very last one in the shop, they usually have 5 or 6 different brands so i was glad to know there were other hairy women out there near where i live. im going to try on my tummy first then just take it from there depending how sore it is and how long im hairfree lol

Mine says to make sure your skin is clean and dry. I do use moisturizer after I use mine to help soothe my skin. It is supposed to lightly touch your skin. I also exfoliate a couple of times a week to prevent ingrown hairs. Hope you enjoy your epi!

don't moisturize ahead of time, it will will gum up the head of the epilator.

It's going to 'smart' the first time you use it, but by the 3 time, you'll barely feel it.

One thing that also helps with the pain after the first time is to use it to touch up when you notice a few hairs coming in instead of waiting until all of your hair is growing in. This is what I do especially on my underarms. You can't even feel it when you are only rememoving a few hairs vs. a lot of hair. I agree that the first few times do hurt, but it does get better and it is so worth it!

What is an epilator? Is it a razor of some sort?

I always loofah the areas I'm going to use my epilator on in the shower beforehand. I find that really helps with the pain. I use the loofah pretty hard, too! I think it gets rid of dead skin cells and makes it easier for the epilator to work. I also agree with a pp that it is good to do "maintenance" on the areas you epilate so that you are not doing all the hair at one time and can eliminate some of the discomfort you would have if you let all the hair grow back first. Until I can do laser I have been pretty pleased with my epilator. I use it on my inner thighs.
