I am currently taking Chromium Picolinate 400 mcg a day.... However in doing research all studies seem to conclude that it is not helpful in boosting metabolism or helping with blood sugar.... Of course they are still in preliminary studies. I only found one study that suggested that it could help women with pcos.
Here is one link.... I will get the others together and post them later http://www.dietitian.com/chromium.html
Meme - Chromium is reported to enhance the effectiveness of insulin and help to reduce blood sugar levels. But there are a few different forms of Chromium.... Chromium Picolinate is the most common one sold, but there are some studies that say this might cause more harm than good. From what I've read, Chromium Polynicotinate is a better (biologically) derived source of Chromium (bound to Niacin) that is more readily absorbed. You can read more here or try googling Chromium Polynicotinate: http://www.oralchelation.com/ingred/chromium.htm
I've also read that PCOS women should really be taking a Chromium called Chromium GFT (Glucose Tolerance Factor), but this particular mineral is not that easy to find. Or at least my local GNC does not carry it. You can try googling it to get more info. HTH. Dianna

But this site is a PCOS supplement site, so take it with a grain of salt! Cheers, Dianna

Chromium is supposedly helpful for lowering blood sugar and heightening the success of insulin production and, if combined with Cinnamon, can boost your fat and sugar metabolism.
Good luck with herbals! As you can tell from my username, I prefer natural methods of healing.
