Question chromium make u nauseated?

Anyone else feel sick when taking GTF chromium? I started taking it on 11/15/05. I started off just taking the recommeded dosage on the bottle (200 mg a day), then found out that I should be taking more. I moved it up to 800 mg a day shortly after. I've been feeling sick over the last week or so and wondered if it might be from that. Have any of you noticed this problem? I started taking it because I couldn't take Metformin. That made me way too sick. I thought this would be better, since it was natural.

Hi there,
I am taking 800mcg of chromium aswell but I do not have any side effects. What I did was like metformin I worked my way up to 800mcg slowly, first week I took 400mcg, 200 in the morning and 200 with lunch, then the second week I doubled it and I have had no bother at all.

Hope that helps
Carrie

I started off with the 200 mg a day and moved straight to 800 mg a day after about 2-3 weeks. I've been doing that for over a week or so. I just started feeling like that recently. Do you think I should drop my dosage?

You could try and drop it to 400 for a couple of weeks and see how you get on, then you could increase the dose again to 800 and hopefully you will not feel as sick.

Take care
Carrie

Thats funny! I love the name Charlie I picked it, I hope you are feeling better soon. I also started to take chromium because I could not handle the side effects of met. Can I ask you if you notice a difference from taking the chromium I definately feel better, I have no brain fog and I have alot more energy. I also can go longer between meals without feeling faint like I used to.

Take care

Besides this nausea lately, I have found the chromium to be great. It seems like it gives me a little kick of energy and I too can go longer between meals. If it helps me lose any weight, that would be a wonderful side effect. I'm mainly concerned with trying to combat the IR, without Met.
Thanks for the info on your dosage. It's nice to run into someone that's taking the same thing.
Can I ask how the Vitex is working for you? I tried it a little before, but I didn't really see a difference. I might not have been taking enough though.

Hi Stephanie,
How are you feeling? I hope the nausea is getting better. I love chromium I really think it is helping with the cravings and the IR. I will be starting a healthy eating plan after christmas and I feel for the first time that I will be able to stick to it. I could never stick to a diet properly before because I used to get so shaky and faint if I did not eat every two hours. I have noticed a difference with the vitex, my skin has really cleared up and I notice that my moods are better. I think that you have to take it for a while before it gets into your system. I take 800mg per day one in the morning and one in the evening.

Take care Carrie

Carrie,
Thanks. I have been feeling a lot better. Maybe it was just temporary from upping my dosage.
I can definitely understand why you are waiting until after Christmas to start the eating plan. It's hard with the holidays and all. I was trying to start back on Weight Watchers (I just do that by myself, no meetings or anything), but it's been hard with all of the get togethers and such. It's so hard for me to change my eating habits. WW was the only thing that worked for me before, since I didn't have to really give up anything, just modify my amounts. I started back on it again in February and have lost somewhere between 25-30 pounds, but when we went on vacation back in late June, I completely let it go and haven't been strict about getting back on track. Luckily, I've managed to stay around that weight, instead of gaining it back.
So, best wishes to both of us in our weight loss journey....and TTC.
I'll be praying for us both.

This is interesting reading. I've been considering chronium for the past year, but I've actually been too scared to try it.

Carrie - I'm still doing pretty good. Thanks for asking about me. I haven't started vitex. I think I'm going to wait and see how the chromium works first, so that I know which one is truly helping.

Jacque - Welcome. I personally think that chromium is a great thing. I would only caution to start off slowly and work your way up on the dosage. That was the only problem that I noticed. Other than that, it's had very nice results.
