I got some CP today and was reading on it and it said that diabetics/hypoglycemics should not take this unless under supervision because it "increases insulin sensitivity and may affect blood glucose levels". I am hypoglycemic and I dont really understand what this means.
Is it GOOD for me or BAD for me? I have insulin resistance & "reactive" hypoglycemia. Any help is appreciated ladies!

What is reactive hypoglycemia?
Reactive hypoglycemia can occur when blood glucose falls, resources of glucose from the liver are exhausted and an individual chooses not to eat. Gradually the body adjusts to this situation by using muscle protein to feed glucose to brain cells and fat to fuel the other body cells. But before this adjustment takes place an individual may experience symptoms of glucose deprivation to the brain resulting in symptoms such as: anxiety, hunger, dizziness, weakness, shaking muscles and racing heart.

I get hypoglycemic very easily, to the point where I have to "graze" all day. . .literally I get hungry as little as an hour or two after having eaten, and if I wait to have a snack, I get shaky and aggressive. This is obviously not normal, as most people I know can wait 3-5 hours between meals no problem. Taking CP & cinnamon has really improved this for me.
I also get hypoglycaemic fairly easily, though I always feel it and know I need to eat NOW. With the chromium I was fine for a couple of months, then I started to develop hypoG more often and eventually had to stop the chromium and the hypoG stopped happening. It's probably a good precaution to carry some lollies with you at all times while you are initially taking and upping the dose of chromium just in case you get the shakes and need to increase your glucose levels again quickly.

Ooooh, that's interesting that it can stop working, I wonder why that is? LOL I *always* have my dextrose tablets with me, they have saved me many a time when I was stuck waiting at the doctors or in traffic. Usually if I know there is a chance I'll be stuck though I try to have something healthier with me though!
Yeah, I don't know - it's a bit wierd, isn't it? I didn't mind though - it felt like it had done its job and my cravings didn't come back when I stopped it, so I was happy. I suspect that it may be something I may take on and off should my cravings ever come back.
