We had one of those 4D video packages done last week and i was amazed at how "chubby" our baby was! I had an regular 2D u/s the day before and she was already 6.5 lbs! I realize because i am diabetic that there was a chance i'd have a big baby. She measured me and said oh yes, she is long too. I am worried that this baby fat won't go away. Did anyone else have a really chubby baby and everything turned out ok? Here are a few photos.

My Mom's biggest birth weight baby is her smallest child.
DH's a Youth Minister, and I have seen our "kids" pictures from birth on up. One of our most petite girls, she was like 5'1 and very thin and athletic was also one of the biggest babies at birth. Another family has 4 kids, 3 boys and then a girl, and the girl was over 11 pounds, much bigger than her brothers, and they are all HUGE football players, and she's a tiny petite little thing.
My niece (she's about 2.5) also appeared to be very huge on the 4D ultrasounds, pictures show her with massive, massive lips and super big chipmonk cheeks, and she was barely 7 pounds at birth, and is still very petite.
It's really just an estimate. Sometimes they are right, sometimes they are wrong.

Both my girls were born at 36 weeks...one was 8 lbs 3oz and the other was 7lb 15 oz. I did not have GD, just big babies. And while both girls are tall, they were never overly chubby or fat....
Don't worry about baby chub. Rolls on a baby just mean a happy healthy baby To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

I was 5lbs 6oz when I was born(my mum was induced at 37 weeks due to pe) and my older brother was 8lbs 12oz(my mum was induced at 38 weeks due to pe) and if you compare photos from when we were both about 2 I'm massive compared to him!!! Now i', 5'2 and 110lbs and my brother is almost 6'1!
I also have a friend who weighed just shy of 11lbs at birth and is now just a little over 100lbs!
I'm pretty sure birth weight has no baring on how big you end up! BTW I LOVE chubby babies, I could just bite my DD's chubby thighs!!

This is true. DS was 8lbs. 15oz 21.5 inches, so a fairly big baby but he never had any chubbiness to him. He's always been in lower %iles for his weight.

My little man is a chubby bubby, lol. But he is sooo cute. He was born at 36 wks weighing 6lbs5oz. He has thinned out, but has the most adorable chubby cheeks! And little stubby legs, lol. My bff's 7yr old was the same way and shes tall and lanky now. Chubby babes are so cute, but don't nessisarily stay that way To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. . Enjoy

My daughter also appeared very chubby on the 4D U/S. She was 9 lb. 12 oz. 21.5 in. long and born @ 40w5d. She will turn 4 this week. I wouldn't describe her as thin, but definitely not chubby. I wouldn't worry about obesity at such a young age. I think the most important thing is to instill good eating habits as soon as she starts eating solids.

After reading all of these replies i feel so much better. It's just all the things you read about babies born to diabetic Moms about them being HUGE babies and "inflated" and stuff scares me. Then i thought about it after reading these, my youngest brother was a micro preemie and i believe he was about 3lbs at birth. My Mom always told me he could fit in the palm of your hand. He was in the hospital for a couple months after his birth. But now he is a 5'10 and over 300lb truck driver lol
