Question Cilest bcp?

Hi, I am already on met but have very low estrogen (from starving myself to try and lose weight!) so am thinking of going on the pill to give me some estrogen. (am currently on the estrogen patch but its expensive and the pill is free! )

Have any of you been on the pill called Cilest? What was it like? Did it affect weight, mood/depression, hair problems etc?

Or are there any other bcps that you have tried that you would recommend?

Thanks!
Cat xx

Hi Cat

I currently use Dianette but used Cilest about 6 months ago but it wasn't for me. It gave me headaches and my spots did not clear up on it as well as it has with Dianette. Also the hairs on my chin where more prodominant.

Dianette has been the best for me. My skin is much better, the chin hairs have virtually gone and generally i just feel better on it.

Everyone is different though. What works for one may not work for another.

Hope this helps

Lucy

Thanks for replying Lucy, did you notice any change in your weight on either cilest or dianette?

I have been thinking about going on dianette too, but have read that it can cause more weight gain and depression than other pills (which I really don't want!!), have you had any problems with that on dianette?

Thanks for your help,
Cat

Hi Cat

I have always been overweight so have not noticed any increase due to being on Dianette.

Re; Depression. I have been on Dianette for over 3 years and last year i started feelinmg down and suffering with anxiety - i am now on medication for the anxiety. As i have been on Dianette for so long I am sure it wasn't down to Dianettte.

I will be coming off Dianette in the next week or so (as my Gynae wants to see if I ovulate before he puts me on met) so i will let you know what happens

Wish me luck and contact me anytime if you want any further info/advice.

Lucy

I was on cilest and it messed me up. I got very very very depressed and lost interest in food, felt sick all the time, snapped at people, had headaches and just felt awful.

But I have a friend who is on it and it really works for her. Personnally I dont agree with it but you have to find what works best for you.

Oh its such a nightmare trying to choose a treatment when they all have such different effects for different people!
I mean I can cope with the thought of having some side effects, but when the pill might actually make the symptoms I'm trying to get rid of (ie weight, depression, hair loss) worse it really makes me reluctant to try it! Oh decisions, decisions...

Good luck with going off dianette Lucy, let me know how you get on, I hope the met works brilliantly for you .
